My belief, is to get with your artist, find a font and depending on size of font and placement, it may affect the price of the piece. Also look at their portfolio at the lettering they do. Dont be afraid to ask for a spacific artist if you like their lettering work. Placement of the piece, is totally up to you, do you want it seen, not seen, or on…[Read more]

Awesome idea, I had never heard of such a thing before, and really enjoyed reading your post about it. I love the darker black and grey styles, so thanks for posting! A+

Looks good, but may be just the fact that it has a lot of grey tones. I think some darker shades would give nice seperation, and leave it with a fuller look.

Different shops in different locations will quote you opposite prices. If your friend is in a shop, I’m sure you will find the best deal from him…as far as books and videos, youtube and such wont teach squat, and most of the videos are for experianced artists who have proper training. If you want to tattoo, practice on pigs ears not people…and…[Read more]

Not trying to be mean, just real…we cover all kinds of stuff, and in reality…hair, feathers, leaves, and scales, and some biomechanics, are what we teach our apprentices. Covering a dark with a really dark is an old way of thinking…the pieces you see on someones arm done like that…in ten years is going to be a huge blobular wreck. Enjoy it…[Read more]

I think that birthmark is the sign of the devil. lol….its up to you, because its something you have to wear forever…if the mark is raised or extremely dark it might be hard to disguise. If I had alarge brown birthmark, I’d do a little piggy playing in the mud 🙂

Maori isn’t island tribal, polynesian is closer to island tribal. Maori is New Zealand. Most Maori tattoos have a story and that’s what the designs are, they’re not just pretty swirls and koru. You’ll look like a complete pillock.lol, I understand where the maori comes from, bet here…[Read more]

WOW. Although worse has came into the shop, this is pretty rough. BUT hope is not all lost. Go to a shop…have an artist look at it (after it heals)….have the artist straighten it and fill it. Now, to be pleasing to the eye, so it doesn’t look homemade, I would think about a series of full color stars or a design, mabye even maori tribal…[Read more]

replied to the topic Please Help – friend got a tattoo and it's not healed properly after 5 weeks in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 13 years, 10 months ago
By the looks of it, its pretty normal. But the raised area could be due to a shader or color packer running a little hard, and ending up with a “heave handed” effect. I would find out if she remembers the area when they switched to color, mabye hurting a lot more than the linework. That size piece, the color should have been pretty quick, but I’m…[Read more]

My God, could you have found a bigger design, lol! Get ready to pay big cash to a coverup artist for a half sleeve, lol. Not trying to be mean, but in actuality, you have to do some soul searching, and ask yourself if you are ready for something big enough to cover, what is it going to be, and keep in mind that that third time coverups dont turn…[Read more]

Tims right, look at the artists portfolio. If a lotis is what you really want, he may suggest one with the fire coming out of the top, or a noce splash of colors in the backdroung to help assist in the coverup. Rmember that black in is the darkest color, so it is the hardest to disguise.

replied to the topic how long after peeling can i shave over a tattoo in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 13 years, 10 months ago
I agree with everyone. we usually recommend that when the skin untightens and doesn’t have the stretched plastic look, and as long as it looks without a doubt normal, then you can shave. keep in mind your skin is still replacing cells and strength even after it peels!!!

If you ever decide to get rid of a tattoo, one option in solid black is a cosmetic trick called salt lift. Check out some tattoo shops that do cosmetic tattoo’s untill you find one familiar with the procedure. It slowly uses a solution tattooed into the piece and a sea salt pack to “draw” the ink out of the skin. It is great for blemishes and…[Read more]

Usually you will have to pay the pecentage of the piece you are getting, and that is insureing that he doesn’t spend two days on your piece, and you never come back. I don’t know how most of the other guys do it, but we charge 20% down of the tattoo price, just to draw. If you like the design, but dont get the piece, you paid for a piece of art.…[Read more]
