replied to the topic opinions on "at home" jobs in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 16 years, 1 month ago
The only way I would get a tattoo in home is when;
I know the area has been sterilised and is hard surfaces only and damn I would wipe them down myself on top of any previous cleaning.
All soft furnishings are removed or are covered in plastic wrap.
The kit is all disposable which I have seen being broken out of the packaging in front of me.…[Read more]

Ok
Facial tattooing. I am currently writing a piece on it but unless you have facial tattoos for religious or cultural reasons like say Samoan/Polynesian where it is more acceptable the majority of employers are not going to employ a person with a cobweb or spider tattoo on their face.
This is because it would scare the living shit out of most…[Read more]

Hi
It is a photoshop of tribal design and my artist has been asked several times if he has a stencil for it. His advice which I fully agree with is;
Go to an artist and get measured up and state that you want that style of tribal to (in your case) form the shape of a phoenix.
It is not difficult for a pro artist as they will have to do it in…[Read more]

replied to the topic How do you get the attention of popular tattoo artists? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 16 years, 1 month ago
Hi
There 2 ways
1. Money – and I mean pay way over the odds for a piece doing by them. It is a business and if you offer enough they will make time.
2. Variable (depends on artist attitude) but a large amt of publicity connected to the ink. If you get media backing magazines, TV etc they may be tempted to do the piece earlier.
That said my…[Read more]

Hi
In answer to your questions;
The cobweb is code for doing time – sometimes the number of webs is the number of years done but the web is a sign of collecting time.
This did originate in UK prisons.
The spider is usually a symbol of addiction be it crime, drugs, murder whatever it comes up in many tattooed cultures as meaning the same…[Read more]

replied to the topic Is a coverup even a possibility? in the forum Tattoo Questions and Experiences 16 years, 1 month ago
Hi
It is possible to cover the tattoo but you may need a few hits with laser unless you go really deep reds and purples etc. It really depends on what you are getting done.
Otherwise the black will come through the tattoo. That said I have seen heavier ink covered nicely.
It is not a bad tattoo can you not reshade some colour into it and add a…[Read more]

Hi
Without bagging on your tattoo – it is ok but I would recommend a cover up and starting again with a much better artist.
It would be simple enough to do and would allow so much more scope for grander looking ink.
As for old school flame sleeve…[Read more]

Hi
No there is not on singular website that I have found it was a number of reference books that I had on various far eastern and indian cultures.
Like all art it means whatever you want it to mean – whether others perceive it there way is something you have no control over.
Many just feel it is a bad ass tattoo with no meaning some take their…[Read more]

Personally I would go with something that represents a positive aspect or influence in black culture.
In all seriousness if a white guy wanders around with that statement to the outsider it may read as ‘I’m taking the piss’ – even if you are not it is a perception thing.
For example I am a Jew I speak hebrew, my wife is Israeli, her family are…[Read more]

Hi
The problem you have is that the hieroglyphs were not set to represent modern day thinking and the language was taken from a rough translation of hieroglyphs to Greek then to Latin all of which have a different emphasis on the root meaning of words.
My advice is possibly take a look at the divinities that were worshiped that best represent…[Read more]

replied to the topic Suggestions to add onto my lettering on forearm? in the forum Inked Skin 16 years, 1 month ago
Hi
If you want my honest opinion it carries serious weight just as it is.
If you start adding scrolls, smoke effect, drop shadowing etc in my mind it would lose the stark impact it has when you read it.
The words as they are just smack you in the face. Sometimes simpler is better.

That is some nice ink.
You could have butterflies, dragonflies, ivy wrap, more blossoms, water theme so it looks like they are floating on top of a stream etc.

Hi
As said you take the pictures of what you like and the artist will discuss how he can turn it into a flowing piece as a part/half/full sleeve.
That said text only tattoos can be a bit more tricky to incorporate into a sleeve unless you know how you want to make it part of a tattoo.
For example if you had biblical text you could go for a…[Read more]

It usually means strength to fight guile or treachery.
The tiger symbolises strength. The cobra represents speed, cunning, or treachery depending on the motive behind the tattoo.
Varies from culture to culture.
