I don’t like the idea at all. With the spiraling pattern around your torso, you’re essentially gonna look striped. That is far too little ink on far too big a canvas. At best I could place it as an arm piece, but even then it’d probably be strange. It also reminds me a bit of a TinTin book.

Oh, I realize that the artist will always have to ‘thin’ the artwork out a bit, but I think there’s a difference between making it tattoo-able and actually changing out stuff on the piece.

My backpiece is going to be a dragon and knight scene, in Anne Stokes detail, and I can’t seem to find a single tattoo artist that is also a fantasy artist that does these kinds of dragons. Who knows, I may have to just buy a piece from Anne, special made… sure, I have 50 grand in my pocket 😀

I think it’s a good concept, and it’s definitely something to remind you of your child.

Personally I don’t ‘get’ these handprints (not as tattoos.. just in general), and I would prefer to get an amazing portrait artists to just do a picture of the actual hand.
