First off really nice tattoo.

Red can be problematic for some as it can contain low to moderate toxicity and scabs a bit harder. I am heading into the end of my second week and still some of the red/pink areas have not peeled but the rest has.

Just have to be patient it will settle down.

With any antiseptic you just put a very thin layer on 2-3 times a day (depending on environment) for the first 2-4 days then a lotion of choice.

No petroleum is best but usually ok if you use sparingly content of 45% or less. (Depends on skin sensitivity as well).

This is actually only the 3rd tattoo of that style that I have seen and I have seen hundreds. As you say most go for some form of pattern or red patterning over the black.

Can I ask what made you want to do it? Also how long did it take?

It is normal the main thing is to let it peel naturally and don’t be tempted to pick at it.
A lot of tattoos may need a small touch-up if they have had a lot of shading or detail put into them.

The main thing (also the hardest) is just being patient and waiting for it to heal.

It is normal and can be sore for a number of days. I had my back done nearly 2 weeks ago and there are still patches that are sore to the touch.

Just make sure you keep it clean and try some ibruprofen (health permitting) will help with any swelling.

I have been to Syria and there are tattoo artists there but they do not have studios as such because strict Islamic beliefs are that tattoos and piercings are ‘mutilation’ and you are cursed by G-d for getting them. I was told it is a word of mouth thing when there and did not see any studios advertising.
