It is more than possible to have that piece turned into a portrait piece. Basically the artist you saw just wanted to trace the photo and prob slap it on.

Because of the sizing as recommended take it to a pro-graphics shop and they will enlarge and digitally restore the photo for you.

I like the piece a lot and it is a great use of colour.

To offer some constructive criticism;

I would personally add some light colour shade or white to the crest of the water to make it pop more.

I would also add a bit more highlight to the fangs.

These are just minor personal taste things but that really is one rocking sleeve.

That is a very solid fill and is looking good on the design plan.
I have quite a few lotus blossoms on my backpiece and I think that it would have looked unfinished without it.

Flowers can be used for feminine tattoos but equally for masculine ones as well.

The ink will lighten but it can easily be highlighted with white ink to make it lighter if you are unhappy with it.

Black shade can lighten by upto a 1/3 after healing. It depends on the depth of the pigment and the type of pigment used.

My advice is keep it clean and apply a light layer of antiseptic for 3-4 days to ensure that it seals up and then use non-scented moisturiser as normal. Make sure no lanolin.

The main thing is that the placenta will filter out the usual bacteria from nicks and scrapes but yes blood poisoning is serious for a fetus or baby.

The pricing sounds pretty much average to me a sleeve can go for £500 to £1500 depending on how much detail and time you spend on it.

To be honest if you are fitting in more detail you might want to have a couple hundred more as backup as those pieces will def be 8 -12 hours depending on what you are after.

Those are elemental wind bars and have been placed in the tattoo as air fuels fire.

Traditional wind bars tend to be very blocky and solid fill or can be slightly curved as in the tattoo but again with solid fill.
