Damn, that’s what I was going to say.

Maybe you should have chosen different colors with more contrast. The black and purple don’t seem to seperate themselves with much clarity and distinction which makes the pattern difficult to recognize.
If you don’t mind, which other site are you referring to where you posted it?

I think if I want to pick I’d say I don’t like the face/mouth of the upper koi with the mouth open. Otherwise I think it’s a nicely done piece and the linework on the unfinished sleeve looks clean.

I suggest you ask a PROFESSIONAL artist the same question.
Anyone starting a post by stating they’re an amateur tattooist learning from books and videos shouldn’t expect much assistance here. I hope you’re not actually tattooing other people. Get an apprenticeship like a PRO would or just do the tattoo yourself for free. Good luck.

I agree, maybe add some leaves or vines in green to add some contrasting color. Just don’t clutter it up too much, would like to see a closer picture if possible also.
