Your scar is light enough you could maybe get away with the lighter colors but that is yours and your artist decision. You can always go darker but it’s hard go lighter without a laser.

More important then what to get tattooed is who you have do it. Were are you located we may be able to help gudie you to an awesome artist.

For your first and being a diabetic I would get it on your upper body and avoid the legs. You will be just fine you just may heal a bit slower. I also got my first at 40 now I can’t stop.
