If you want to go big, a member called ChewyTart has a beautiful back tattoo that might give you some ideas. I’m not suggesting you copy it, but its worth having a look at her album.

I don’t know about the flowers. It might alleviate some of the distortion, or it might just emphasize it. If I were you would have someone draw up a design that’s correct on the horizontal, snap a picture of it and stick that picture on the fridge for a month or three. If you find the asymmetry pleasing, go for it.

I really don’t see how that thing can be straightened out without intentionally making it asymmetrical, and adding quite a lot to the top on one side and to the bottom on the other side, and of course on the sides all over.

Your artist is the best person to advise as to how well it will fit, or not, and be able to recommend an alternative.
Re the pain, as per the above, it’s temporary and won’t be unbearable. (not that I’ve ever had my chest done but plenty have)

That’s very good, and you should definitely keep working at it. But butchering people’s skin and picking up very poor work habits is the last thing a future mentor wants on his apprentice’s record, not to mention the whole disease and infections issue you got going on there with that kitchen job.
