Girls with tattoos have reclaimed their body from society’s perceptions of what is ‘acceptably feminine.’
I think that kind of self determination is pretty hot, no?

If you want it on your shoulder, maybe pick one of the child angels and do that in detail? Or, if you want the whole thing, maybe do it in a more abstract, sketchy style? Lose the detail but keep the outlining etc?

I prefer it in black and white, personally.
But I can see how some perspective might be lost at that size…Maybe just colour the dragon and then the end the branches fading into your skin as it gets further from the tip?

I like them. Not necessarily as a tattoo but I could see them in a neil gaimanesque novel/graphic novel

it was just raised to begin with.
I do keep it pretty moisturised because it’s on my foot and thus needs TLC to keep the skin in good condition
but I’ll try drying it out a bit, thanks

Scabs – you know where it looks ready to be picked? white flecked up skin at the edges of bits of ink? Don’t worry I’m not picking it but the weird thing is, it looks like whatever ink is underneath and staying there has healed, and that the scabs are just hanging around for kicks…

That’s such a terrible story and I am so sorry for your loss.
That is a beautiful statue though, and I can see why it means so much to you. I’m not a tattoo expert but from what I’ve seen they can be more complex than that. It probably depends on how big you are prepared to have it, or whether you need to have it exact photo like representation.…[Read more]

Out of interest, what is the symbolism? 🙂

It really is interesting how ‘hidden’ changes between men and women. For most women, a back tattoo of that size wouldn’t really be considered ‘hidden’ because of the range of different clothing we wear. I guess that’s easily hidden by a shirt or tshirt though…
Are you religious, or was it just your granddad who was ‘saved’? maybe an idea could…[Read more]

*bump*
what’s the most inspirational thing you’ve ever read?
Is there meaning or just aesthetics behind your tattoo(s)?
Have you ever regretted a tattoo/pericing/modification?
Have you ever had a bad reaction from someone regarding any of the above?
Does text talk annoy you?
You can have any pet…what is it?
How excited are you about the baby? 😀

Heya hid.
What IS the design you’re getting? You’ve told us the size, that it’s symbolic and that your parents are ok, but nothing about the design. First, this can make a difference as to how likely it is to distort. Secondly, it might make a difference as to how sensible it is to get the tattoo at 16.
From the sounds of it, you would be in the…[Read more]

Oh Gnarly, that’s exactly what I was thinking!
On a serious note though, you seem to want a christian theme to the message or you wouldn’t have mentioned it. I would think of a word or phrase you want and search an online bible.
Failing that, something medical themed seems a good idea to me!

Hey
I’m vague on the know-how – but I think it’d have to be pretty big for the lines to work. Like half your back or something

Lol…umm, I actually found it relatively ok, but i did TWITCH a bit. Clearly it was catching some nerves or something, but when I mentioned it and pointed out my toes were spasming she gave me a sec, i flexed my toes and we carried on. As long as you communicate with the artist properly it shouldn’t be too bad – it was funny rather than…[Read more]

Well, I had a look and commented, but I think it’s easier if they’re embedded in the text rather than the effort of getting to the albums….

Hey
I have foot tattoo, a combination of picture/word. It’s very small, and only line work, along the inside of my right foot, just under the heel bone on each side. (that’s convoluted, but it’s unusual placement)
As a girl, it’s surprisingly visible. I literally thought it would only be visible when was barefoot of in flip flops, but when i…[Read more]

Hey Amba
I’m afraid I can’t comment a huge amount on the pain as I don’t have one there…but my mine is on the ankle heel which I believe is meant to be similar, and I didn’t find it too bad.
As you posted the picture I’m assuming advice won’t go amiss?
Just from my perspective, if I knew you enough to talk to, I would ask what the design…[Read more]
