I’ve seen a lot of weird bras at certain stores, like, ones where the cups are just free floating and stick to your boobs or little nipple covers so you can’t see nipple through the shirt. These may work depending on the size of your boobs. Also, there are the low back strap bra things, so if you turn the bra into a halter and get the low back strap, which you can stick on any bra.

^ that sort of style… if that’s low enough in the back for the tattoo.

If not, one of my tattoos is right where my shoulder strap is and my boobs weigh 3,000 pounds each and at that time I was considerably heavier so even though I tried to wear it as little as possible, it’s kindof hard for me to go braless. I wore it over a T shirt until it flaked. I was more concerned about possibly rubbing the skin or pulling of flakes/pulling out scabs than I was about just being there, although having unnecessary clothing smushed on a tattoo isn’t good either. I don’t see that it had any effect on the tattoo. It was painful though.

I don’t have anything against text tattoos, I am considering getting one/two (one that’s mostly text, another that has text in it but is a bigger piece). I have a friend who only has text tattoos though. Roman numerals, letters, and a phrase, and now wants ANOTHER phrase, all on her back in different fonts. Really, really not looking that great. I think they can look good when text is used sparingly on the body, with good font and usually I like it when other imagery is incorporated or its part of a larger piece. Conversely, I also have seen super simple one word tattoos in a ultra simple serif typewritery looking font that I haven’t hated. I wouldn’t really say those are spectacular tattoos by any means though. Cute maybe. However I definitely prefer tattoos with text that area little more creative and “different”.

I really hate the process of getting tattooed (and pierced) and I really hate the healing process. Of both. I go into the shop with a mixture of intense excitement and anxiety. Only once was the pain so unbearable for me I had to stop a session, but I was with an artist who was a tool… A great ARTIST, but he really had a thing for grinding people’s flesh into hamburger meat. Usually in the chair I pull a lot of faces, but try to keep any noise making to a minimum so my current artist doesn’t have to listen to me. I used to have a very very high pain tolerace, for some reason as I get older it’s diminished. Either way, my love of tattoos and body modification has outweighed my pain and anxiety.

I have very sensitive skin so I get ultra swollen and red following any tattoo, which is painful and silly looking, so I hate that with a passion too.

I wish I could be the type of person whose “into” the experience or even enjoyed it, but I’m totally not.

Looks good. There seems to be a lot of random black splats in there are those going to be tied into the shading? or are the just some kind if fuck up? It almost looks as if they tattooed some of the random purple off of the transfer.

I took this right after I pulled the bandage off and the initial ink that seeped out didn’t wash off my skin all the way. It is giving a speckled look around a lot of the lines, and on part of the diamond too. The lines are much cleaner than that underneath 🙂

I have a strong bias towards brightly colored tattoos so of course I’m going to say color.

I think the subject matter of the tattoo calls for color in this case. It looks really nice the way it is but I feel that having color would definitely be an enhancement. If I were you I would fully color it in, instead of just doing accents (I think you should either go full color or leave it B&G). Turquoise and gold sounds good. Maybe a little bit of an accent color such as purple as well?

Again, like I said, big fan of color tattoos so my suggestion might not be your ‘thing’ but that’s what I would do with it if it were my tattoo. 🙂

ETA: You posted your reply while I was typing. You seem pretty pale. With lighter skin you can get away with almost any color showing up pretty true to form.

I think it’s a really bad idea to get pierced before you’re 16 and inked before you’re 18. Hell, I think most people who are 18 or 19 shouldn’t be getting tattooed either :/ (some people take longer to mature, as we all know, plenty of people this age are totally ready to commit)

That said, just because it’s an awful idea doesn’t mean it should be illegal. Tattoos I would say absolutely not for people under 16, and between 16 and 18 with consent . I’m pretty much fine with the laws saying that nobody under 18 can get tattooed at all though.

For piercings, I think it should be 13 and up for everything other than genitals or nipples and under 18 (or under 16) need parental consent. Genitals and nipples only on over 18s.

Tattoos last forever and can dramatically alter your ability to get a job/be accepted/blah blah. Piercings, unless you rip it out or it gets horridly scarred or infected (which is not really contingent upon age, especially as a teenager. They’re not that hard to take care of) leave a tiny little scar and are not permanent. That’s why I don’t really think piercings are a very big deal. Just so long as someone is old enough to understand the significance of what they are doing and care for it properly.

I think is also depends a lot on your personal level of tolerance. I have two tattoos that are below the elbow. I am also, for whatever reason, always way colder than everyone else in the room. I mean, every once in a while I get warm, but for the most part having long sleeves doesn’t bother me at all. Usually when I’m inside, unless there’s literally no AC WHAT SO EVER and it’s 100 degrees outside, I have long sleeves on and I’m cold.

So the thought of wearing long sleeves in an office for the rest of my life really doesn’t bother me that much. I know other people who sweat profusely and want to cry at the very idea of that.

But, givens would be no neck, or hands, and to be careful at the wrists so that it can be covered with a shirt. Look at what you are most comfortable wearing at work, and work around that, unless you think you are able to change your attire and still be reasonably comfortable, is my best advice.

THANKS everyone. Still thinking about it, but I have a few more weeks before I get it colored. I’ll post the final results when I do 🙂

The worst thing I ever did before getting tattooed was take caffeine pills. This was years ago, I took them to stay awake earlier in the day, but that day the pain was unbearable and I couldn’t sit still for the life of me. I now never take those pills and generally avoid caffeine, but ESPECIALLY when I am getting tattooed.

Eating snacks while being tattooed helps with the pain for me. It distracts me. I mean, obviously it’s not a good idea to eat through a three hour session, haha. But I like to get a salad or something chewy that I can just sit there and slowly eat. Other people I know think that’s weird because they can’t enjoy their food while in pain. For me it’s the only thing that distracts me.

I don’t really think there are areas for men a women other than MAYBE lower back to some people, but I’ve seen men with lower back tattoos and I think they look just fine. I think it’s more the content of the tattoo than the location. Then again, I have tattoos on my arm and I’m a woman. And many people seem to think this is rather manly, despite the fact my tattoos are things like cupcakes and flowers.

I would say get it wherever you want and not care. Anywhere on your arm is probably considered masculine by most.

I agree that there could be a little touch up done BUT I think it looks great your artist really did a good job making your idea into something cool. Haven’t seen a “graffiti” tattoo before.

I’ve actually always loved tattoos and been obsessed with them. I mena, I don’t remember as a small child but as soon as I got the internet when I was 12 (22 now) I joined body mod forums and stuff even though I had none, just because I was fascinated and wanted to talk to people with tattoos. I didn’t get my first one until I was 20 because I put a lot of deliberation into it, and still only have three currently.

However, for a while I was against certain things, like, I thought I would never get a chest piece or any tattoos near my breasts or any tattoos on my forearm… But my third tattoo is on my forearm haha. And while I have no plans to getting any chest work done anytime soon, I am not at all opposed to it.

Also neck tattoos. I used to think they were unnattractive but now am thinking about it.

I guess it was less about hating tattoos/thinking it was “wrong” to get them in certain places and more about what I found aethetically pleasing. Like I just didn’t like the look of chest pieces until recently.

Sometimes I feel bad when I stare, because I only have one visible tattoo I’ve had for a week and I’ve already had people just stare at it blankly, but usually when I stare I am just admiring. Recently I couldn’t take my eyes off some woman (and I’m a straight female) because she had one full sleeve and one sleeve almost finished, a chest piece, tattoos on her neck and her legs (she was wearing a dress) and they were all beautifully perfectly done. I was literally captivated by the beauty of it. Of course, I felt awkward because I’m sure she noticed so I literally apologized for staring and told her I really liked her ink and was looking to get more done and asked her who her artist was. She laughed and was cool with it, but before that was definitely giving me a few questioning looks, haha.

As a woman with tattoos, I guess I tend to stare more at heavily tattooed women, who already get more stares. But it’s not uncommon for me to see men with lots of tattoos, I have male family members with lots of tattoos. Where I live, at least, it’s not that common to see a woman with ANY visible tattoos, and if there are any it’s usually a wrist or ankle tattoo, so when I do see a woman with nice tattoos I can’t help but want to check out the artwork.

Welcome to the forum.

I love the cupcake and the flower. Especially the cupcake.
Just interested, what made you decide to get the cupcake?

I got the cupcake because I love baking cute cupcakes but I’m by no means a baker, haha. Over time “cupcake” has become the pet name I use for everything that I am fond of, right now my dog is my main cupcake but in general it wasn’t for anyone specifically.

Thanks everyone for the compliments!
