I used a numbing spray on my last tattoo. It is used after the skin is broken so about an hour into the tattoo we started using it. Worked great I couldn’t feel anything except pressure. That being said this has been the worse healing tattoo ever it’s been a week and a half it’s still leaking out plasma 80% of the color is…[Read more] -

I don’t know about Japanese shop traditions specifically, but here in the States many of the best artists require a deposit to get a consultation. That’ll include the design the 2 of you come up with. You have to like it and approve it before ink touches skin.
Time involved depends on the artist, and he/she should be able to give you a rough idea…[Read more]

A good artist will design the tattoo around the actual curves and shapes in your particular arm.
Your going to have to be flexible in your design, and you’re going to have to find an artist who is both good and tolerant. Many real artists are going to be bored copying your design, and an average tattooist probably isn’t going to be able to exactly…[Read more]

I’m really not huge into portraits on my skin. I love seeing a quality portrait on someone else, but I’m not about that.Me, too.
I like the idea about the little kid kneeling at the edge of the bed with his hands clasped a lot. It’s was better than just some more script – but you’ll need to get a good artist. Don’t settle. -

how about a portrait of your Dad, instead?

maybe the artist’s style of starting and finishing doesn’t reflect his abilities at this stage.
Post up some of his other work, or send us a link to his portfolio.

You don’t need to be artistic – you just need to appreciate art.
Spend lots of time looking at tattoo portolios (on-line), and get an idea for the type/style of tattoos that you love and can live with forever. The trick is in finding the right artist, and not assuming that any tattooist can do any tattoo.

All I looked at was the cover-ups page.
Not exactly the highest caliber or work. A couple were ok, but the tribal covers are horrific. -

Love to see you artwork, and welcome – but you are about to be slammed.
Non-professional tattooing isn’t a popular topic.

That’s kind of vague answer. It all depends on the artist.
There are tattooists who are artists and will do right by the art, and there are tattooists who will work on anything and say anything because they are hungry and need to pay their bills.

If you can’t afford to get some laser work done then you probably won’t be able to get any quality tattoos, either. If it’s all about the budget you’ll be back on here in a few months asking how to fix your next problem.

You’re not going to find much love from most of us for either tribal or words.
We have seen some awesome realism styled wolf tattoos. If that’s what you want I would recommend finding an artist that specializes in that type of artwork. Realism and tribal are pretty much opposite sides of the spectrum.
