replied to the topic how do you judge a good tattooist? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 17 years, 9 months ago
Personally I always rated mine by the fewest number of punches he had to use to put me out so he could put the damn thing on me. Been a big bloke it only took 5-6 of them! 😀
Actually there are 2 things that I like to look for in a good artist.
As stated the type of art they have – making sure they can do something you like and be sterile…[Read more]

Hi
Personally I prefer the bottom one of the two although both are nice.
You have a lot of skin and years to go, so you may end up with both 🙂

Ok just some thoughts
It could do with some reshading on the sun and the lines tightening on the sun and the tribal lines.
I would recommend interspersing some colour along the edges of the sun to brighten it up. Maybe extend the rays (in colour)or add something along the shoulder and collarbone.
Alternatively maybe some flames or zodiac…[Read more]

Alternatively google image the type of tree and you will get hundreds of pics on them.

First off not a tattoo artist.
However I think with a skilled artist you can get it reworked so it gives a much better showing of what you want it to be.
They could also maybe add some colour and extra stars and such to the dream catcher and more definition to the ear pieces, and bolden out the wire etc.In the right hands that could be a much…[Read more]

Hi
I have a book called The Celtic Design Book by a guy called Aidan Meehan covers pretty much everything from the history of the knots to how to draw/design your own.
It was an import from USA and cost me $18 on Amazon so reckon about a Tenner or so.Well worth checking out if you are serious on the subject – i found it quite accessible as an…[Read more]

Hi MacIsaac
I gotta say I am not a fan of hand tats but whilst I have been researching for my book I have seen many.
The one font I would definitley give a miss is old(e) english – it stretches and blurs a lot from the pics I have seen (I am not an artist just going on what I have looked at). I think it is because the skin stretches across the…[Read more]

Welcome to the forum Struttin.
I have to say that I share your love of Harley’s but sadly a wife and lack of bank balance are between me and my dream bike – the UK is so damn expensive 🙁
Hope you have a great time here.

Hi pillowtalk
Sorry I forget sometimes we are multinational and I use Brit slang.
A deep floral is where you have nch of flowers that group together closely so that they form a tight bunch of rich colour or colours if you mix the flower types eg tulips and roses. This would be a piece that is large, bold and very very colourful. Like a bouqet of…[Read more]

Damn both sound real painful.
I am glad it is only scar tissue – I was chatting with my mate who is a junior Dr and he was telling me (with relish the sicko) the number of horror embedded/torn/stuck piercings he has had to deal with.
He actually said that the most common one is the labret piercings that have gone wrong and one or two prince…[Read more]

Kiri,
Sorry for the delay I was looking into some heraldry for you (beats investigating fraud! ;))
There were quite a few ideas that struck me but will keep it tamed.First of all I like the tattoo and think it is a great thing to have your family crests.
Have you considered a bit more colour or a reshade the knights could be more prominent…[Read more]

I apologise if you felt that my comments were offensive or patronising they were not meant to be.
In fact I knew you were serious about your tattoo – which is why I took the time out to give you my opinion. Not to be rude but because actually I do care.I care because you are putting something permanent on your body which unless you are…[Read more]

Not sure why but my stomach turned over watching that.
It wasn’t the needle it was the guy with the nose ring that made it kinda creepy 😀
I just kept thinking damn if you pull away he will have your tongue as a souvenir.Glad it came out ok in the end though!

Ok
Proper thing is not to panic. Keep it sterile.
Basically if it is a foreign body stuck in the flesh you need a Dr to get it out with some tweezers. I would not suggest doing this yourself unless you want a nice cross- infection to go with it.
At worst they will make a very small incision and remove it – nothing worse than a shaving cut maybe…[Read more]

Hi
Sounds a great sleeve idea.
I would just suggest a couple of things;
If you get a Japanese dragon I would go for Japanese characters rather than Chinese, and Chinese characters with a Chinese dragon.
Also do not just choose the characters straight off the wall. I have several friends who are fluent in Chinese and Japanese and when they…[Read more]
