You raise an interesting point – truth is it was a simple oversight on both mine and artist’s part. we were both busy adding last min changes – it looked right when we were looking at it pretty much upside down.
I am pretty laid back about it because I know that the piece can be sorted out – but yes it was a basic error which is why I try not to…[Read more]

Thanks for the replies.
@ Arni – yes not the best picture in the world I will get some better pics up when more detail is added.
I intend to get it coloured in the next 2-4 weeks depends on when my artist can fit me in as working on cancellations.
With regards to the face I can understand what you are saying as I have seen a large variation of…[Read more]

There is a debate as some would argue it kills off innate skill.
I am of the opinion it helps train the mind to recognise certain shapes and aids in forming proportions on faces hands etc when drawing free hand.
The way to look at is a true artist can do a straight trace but also add a lot of fine detail and extras free hand whereas a non artist…[Read more]

Hi wardy
I would recommend anything by Barrington Barber who does basics o advanced on a variety of styles.
I would also recommend getting an anatomy book to aid with sketches. Also consider a lightbox and do some traces of existing tattoos to get a feel for it. It is not cheating as just another style of drawing.

Those digits are looking much better, very tidy work.
After so many touchups did you have any probs with scar tissue and ink holding?

Cornish is right a professional laser removal specialist will be able to lighten the ink to allow a cover up with no to very minimal scarring.
Scarring tends to occur when the setting is too high, not enough time between sessions, or wrong type of laser being used on the pigment.
Black banding is a big decision and should be considered…[Read more]

Much appreciated – been taking a lot of stick from ‘art purists’ but I always state we get what we find attractive.
Chuffed though as I know Japanese isn’t your fave style.
Thanks

That is a very sweet collection you got going on there. Great use of colours.
I was not so sure at first with the stars in the early pics but works great once coloured in. Really makes it pop.

Hi
To clear up the ambiguiety on costs. You are correctjust because a person charges a certain price doesn’t always translate into great work.
However that is where artist research and portfolio searching comes into it.
As a rule of thumb you will be looking at a min of £65 p/h for an established artist to work on you. Obviously this can be…[Read more]

Hi
If the skin has not burned and peeled then damage to the tattoo with it being fresh will not be that much of an issue – your skin is resilient.
However UVA does damage skin cells and helps breakdown the tissue where the pigment is placed. This is a slow process (in moderate exposure) but it depends on climate and exposure.
Put simply sun…[Read more]

Hi
As said depends on what you are having done. Fine detail takes longer than than a solid fill.
My advice is save up for the top end of the qoutes. That way you can afford whatever artist you like without cutting corners.
Your ink is an investment for life so don’t let money be the issue.

Hi
I got my full back done mainly because it was the only space on my body where i could fit the whole idea in one place and so that it flows how i wanted it.
I do have other tattoos that i can see but if I ever want to look at my tattoo then I have a backpiece portrait which is hung on my wall and I can admire everyday.
Back tattoos are simply…[Read more]

My next piece does not have a lot of sentimental value it is something I just liked the idea of.
First session is srd September so will post up when done.
