You should be able to find bephanten or bacimycin as well. I use the last one for all my tattoos when they aren’t healing properly, it fights off starting infections etc and its always worked wonderfully for me. Usually clears up any issues in max three-four days, usually less.

There is no such thing as the perfect aftercare method. Everyone has different opinions and different results using any number of methods.
I personally don’t mind artists using a petroleum based product during the tattoo at all, I’ve even used A&D during healing with excellent results. It depends on quite a few factors 🙂

I say infected because despite the tattoo being green, it looks miscoloured, swollen and red in some spots. Infections can be small, and can happen even if you do everything right with the tattoo. The smallest things can set it off, especially on your lower arms 🙂
But might also be due to the tattoo being placed way too deeply, which shows.

Go see a professional tattoo artist that has been in the industry for a while. They’ve seen a thousand old tribals that people want to cover up, change or expand on.
It’s a fairly common problem by now, but a lot of the artists that have been around for a while have done quite a few of them, and would be able to help you out with some ideas etc 🙂

Don’t use moisturizer on it. This is an infected wound, not dry skin 🙂 What you need is an ointment that helps with minor infections. I use one called Bacimycin on mine, but I’m in europe and not sure if it’s available where you are, but any drug store/pharmacy should have something similar.

I keep seeing notifications for old picture comments. Happens almost every single time I log on now! Always says it happened like one minute ago, but clearly the comment came a year ago.

Seems to be healing very well. Nothing to worry about at all! Always hard to know with a first tattoo, I freaked out with my first big one, when I saw bits and pieces fall off in the shower 😉 The tattoo, however, stayed put. Looks completely fine to me.

It’s perfectly normal. It’s excess ink in that dead skin, nothing to worry about. You can shower normally now, no need to keep the tattoo away.
