But yeah, making your tattoos all work together regardless of style is about space and how much needle you’re willing to endure.

On my left side I have a Tolkein based tattoo and a Hugo based tattoo beneath that… The first one is just black Tengwar from Bilbo’s poem about Aragorn. The one below it is a light pink rose referencing Les Miserables Ch IV, “A Rose in Misery.” Beneath the rose I’d like a Rilke reference on writing… Maybe something with tree roots, a heart…[Read more]

AHA! I knew it was a neuro condition based on the tattoo. (I work in neuro peds, but I’ve only heard…[Read more]

Not just apprentices.
I totally realized a significant group of minority medical professionals look like nothing more than tattoo apprentices from 1992 when you see them in the shower. O_O
I mean, tattoos are so freaking mainstream…[Read more]

Shower with liquid Dial on it. Dry thoroughly. Apply unscented moisturizer. (Like I’m sure the tattoo artist said.) Petal it with gauze if it’s dry to the touch. If not, just a clean shirt will do. I wouldn’t make a special trip for gauze, but I am a fan of petaling if you need extra protection for a couple hours.

Your messy room ties my remaining ovary in a knot. Clean your room. Then take a bath and put an unscented lotion like Jergen’s on the tattoo.

Hard to distinguish a lot, but the concept is cute and simple.
Beware, hand tattoos supposedly don’t age well. (Said the pussy who only has tattoos on her torso and thighs.)

Just as you’re limited by flat canvas, paper, linen, sculpture, all forms of art are “imperfect” in some aspect, I suppose. Nothing can look totally 3D on a flat surface and truly perfect lines are pretty much impossible. There’s only bad art, okay art, good art, and great art, and outside of things like lines, clarity, form, symmetry, and…[Read more]

I swear to God, part of me thinks it would be totally bad ass to get the ultimate cliche tattoo: A koi jumping a barbwire rope working a tribal hula hoop. The other part of me can’t stand the idea of being stuck with that idea.

We know tattoos are open wounds for three to four weeks. After that point, it becomes a closed wound, but that following month, it is STILL a considerable subdermal wound with easy potential for infection/discoloration. From a nursing standpoint, I’d consider staying out of the water of any kind, and any kind of submersion, for two months,…[Read more]
