scabbing is definitely not normal for “optimal” healing, but it is very common. you want to keep scabs as dry as possible so i would skip a few sessions of lotion to let the scab dry out and fall off on its own.

most likely your artist went too deep in that area or tried to pack in the colors.

im sorry to say, but its not the tan that is messing up your ink, its the uv rays. just because you lose your tan easily, doesnt matter. the damage done to your ink is irrepareable (unless u get it touched up, obviously).

other than lots of sunscreen you should try looking into spf clothing.

think of it as character. those small “imperfections” are what gives your ink personality. you cant erase a mistake on a tattoo like pencil, so all tattoos will have slight imperfections. if it really bothers u, talk to your artist to get it touched up.

yeah that does sound odd. has it been scabbed this whole time? sounds like to me you are over moisturizing, but again, hard to tell without pics. with scabs, you want to dry them out so try to skip moisturizing it for a couple days or longer.

cant really help u without pics, but when u say raised, is it raised like a scab or raised like you can feel it? if its the latter, then that is just a reaction of the ink to the heat and it is a common occurrence. especially more so if its black ink and its the lining vs the shading.

you should be asking your artist that. the most common things in traditional japanese sleeves are, but not limited to:

– wind bars
– waves
– koi
– lotus and/or peony
– dragons
– rocks
– clouds
