Seems the idea of “go big or go home” for first tattoos is all the rage these days… not that its a bad thing! Looks like yours was planned out well, too. Good man!

Also remember you dont have to be artistic yourself. You can always get images from various sources and use them as a reference when explaining your thoughts to your artist. As others have said though, you need to think of what you want on your sleeve. We dont know anything about you, and have no idea what you would like.
Sleeves and large…[Read more]

replied to the topic Painkiller before getting a tattoo?? Help?? in the forum Tattoo Questions and Experiences 16 years, 9 months ago
Also, part of getting a tattoo is the pain. And you will feel much better knowing you went through with it despite the pain. Most people will say you are a “wuss” or a “panzy” for taking painkillers for the tattoo. Many people see it almost as.. cheating, ya know?
Besides, painkillers are pretty ineffective at blocking the pain of a tattoo…[Read more]

the pain of getting a tattoo really depends on alot of things. I wouldnt go as far as to say they hurt like hell, but some areas of the body do hurt more than others.

why dont you just go to a good tattoo artist in person and ask them. A competant artist could draw it up for you and do anyway you want.

Really sounds like a bad idea. What sterilization methods does your dad use? Does he use disposable needles, tubes, gloves, etc?
Also, is his work any good? I doubt it, as anyone who cant tattoo a straight line shouldnt be tattooing other people. I think your dad is full of shit with the “hard to follow the lines when u start bleeding ” nonsense.…[Read more]

Some artists are unwilling to tattoo directly over acne (with good reason i assume). Find out what your artist will do when dealing with that kind of skin problem. My best advice is to try and get your acne as under control as possible before getting the tattoo.
I also hope you are prepared for the consequences of getting a tattoo on your neck/face. 😮

Yes, it is very possible to tattoo over light stretch marks. Your artist may have to go over it a second time after it heals, as the ink may not hold as well, but you should be fine. Also, having them tattooed over is somewhat more painful.
Just let your artist know your concerns and im sure he/she will be able to accomodate you.

Tattoos are an amazing artform. They dont need special meanings behind them to be awesome.

Agreed. Your back is one of best places for a really large and awesome piece to go. If you put a smaller cross on your back down, you might feel the urge to get it covered up with something bigger down the road. But if you are sure about putting on the back, i would say put on the upper middle part of your back, with the top of the cross just…[Read more]

I kind of agree with Mr. Knighthawk. Although i dont think you are a shallow person or anything, i dont think you have the experience to talk about such a subject. All the research on articles on the net are not going to make up for it. you need to actually go through the entire process, from thinking of an idea to looking up artists, to having it…[Read more]

replied to the topic Numbing in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 16 years, 10 months ago
I know this is probably not going to be what you want to hear, but the best advice is to take.. nothing. Thats right.. nothing. No numbing cream, no pills, nothing. I would suggest you eat something before hand though. It may take the egde off in some areas, but when you hit a sensitive area, its not gonna do a damn thing.
