I’m jealous of this ‘goes numb after a while’ reaction. It felt quite nice for me to begin with, and pretty quickly got worse. Anyway, the pain is temporary, the pride is forever.

I’ve only ever been to two different tattoo studios, but both recommend using bepanthen. I’ve never tried tattoo goo before, but it’s sole purpose is for the healing of tattoos, so it can’t be bad.

I’d shop around a bit more if you’ve got more parlours about. It can’t hurt to visit some and get more advice, maybe even get an artist to sketch an idea on your arm, to see if you’ll like it…

My father is a photography teacher, and one of his students took a photo of a tattoo on my back in a studio. The photo looked great. I don’t think she used a direct light on my back, because the glare would be in the way. Instead she used two lights on either side of my back and had me move backwards/forwards until the lighting was just right.

Well, I read a story in a magazine a couple months back that relates to this subject. A guitarist got a sleeve tattooed on him (while drunk) and woke up the next day to discover his sleeve contained a star on his forearm. Looks like you’re going to have no problems with the cover up, I prefer the new tattoo a lot more. It looks great, it’ll look even better with shading done 🙂

Congratulations on your ink, it looks good. I’m glad it has a solid meaning behind it, I can’t stand people who get something done like a koi fish just because they’re popular. The meaning behind it really makes it a special tattoo. Well done.

Hmm… Maybe a four leaf clover with 1994 on each leaf and Catherine written underneath it? I’m no good at stuff like this, I prefer to wait until an idea grows on me until I have to have it done…

Not sure if he actually tattoos, but I like some designs by Paul Huss. I’ve only ever seen black and grey stuff by him, and it’s all on an evil sort of theme. Personally, I love colour tattoos.

The longest i’ve been tattooed for is just a little over 2hrs, and i’m definately not a fan of sitting in a chair for even that long. I bled a lot, and sometimes my tattooist would be shading so hard the buzzing would stop in the gun for periods of time, and I could feel my skin really start to burn. I have to agree with Matthew on pretty much everything he just said. There’s nothing worse getting something tattooed on you in a foreign language, then finding out there’s a spelling mistake, grammatical error or it just has a different meaning to what you first thought.
