Well, everyone told you the answer, so I’ll just nod my head… Shave when it’s healed, and/or roughly three weeks.
Ms. Mercury mentioned this, but I’ve noticed my tattoos no longer sprout hair/fuzz. Anyone else get that from trauma to the area, or just us freaks?

Thanks, buttwheat and Lola. Peacocks are very fierce (and slightly evil). I had an experience, once.
I’m definitely going to ask him to keep it in the lighter range since it does well in my skin. I’m excited for the Indian bluebird/blue robin, one of the world’s most primitive flycatchers. Waiting is the hardest part. 🙁

Your scar is light enough you could maybe get away with the lighter colors but that is yours and your artist decision. You can always go darker but it’s hard go lighter without a laser.
Just out of plain old curiosity: What would you do? I’d like lighter colors since both my color tattoos are more in the pastel range.

That’s a gorgeous tattoo! I love the marlin, buttwheat.
Do you think darker colors are necessary? Should I urge him to dark it up a bit? Mainly the problem is that it’s a lumpy, uneven surface and it sinks in. I’m hoping it turns out. He saw it in person and seemed confident – I’m within 10 lbs. of my ideal body weight, so I shouldn’t be…[Read more]

It didn’t show up, Lola! I’ve always loved your peacock, though, and that would have been lovely. 🙁
Well, I have an untouched back, and I need more animal tattoos. Good idea for the future! 🙂

I love the owl! You rarely see an owl making a predatory expression like that in a tattoo. Well done!

That’s right! One of my great joys in life is teaching pediatric patients how to enjoy the old school cartoons. 😉
You know, it’s medically important. 😉

The right artist, as buttwheat gently pointed out, can make or break you. Where do you live?

You mind change your mind around the sixth hour of continual squalling. I have a recurring nightmare about a tattoo artist doing this really awful tattoo on my forearm and it’s very hot outside and everyone HAS to see it.

PT for months. I was one of the first successful nerve grafts in our area. That’s really cool! Was it from a human donor or from a pig?

Bring your glucometer to the tattooist’s as well as a simple carb and a protein. EDUCATE your tattooist how to use it so he can test you and give you half a cup or so of juice or regular soda if you have a hypoglycemic crisis.
And listen to what everyone else said.

Oh, Sam. It looks like that part of the old bod has seen better days!
Thanks, buttwheat. The tumor itself was pretty impressive, but not sure if everyone would appreciate my disgusting throbbing tumor. 😉
Anyone who’s tattooed over scars is more than welcome to advise.

I also have to agree here. You should get to a convention. Talk to the artists, but also talk to tattooed people sporting the style you want.
All I ever do on here is agree with the smart people with good tattoos. Thus far, never steered me wrong.
