Hi Ck
Well the only advice I can give based on the info is make sure it is fully healed then take it to an experienced artist.
They should be able to fill in any spots, tighten lines etc.If it was an absolute dog of a tattoo they may have to consider a cover-up again with no pics hard to say.

replied to the topic Paranoid about infection? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 17 years, 2 months ago
Hi Azure
That is a seriously detailed piece which is going to have more swelling as the skin has been worked over a lot with lines. I do not think it is infected at all and the inflamation is just your body adjusting to the work and should go down in a day or so. I would recommend Ibruprofen now that it is on.
I have lived in the Middle East…[Read more]

Hi Azure
If am right is that the one with celebration of the marriage of Peleus?
I recall it had a lot of women at the top in a procession with some harps and chariots in the middle.Ok I checked it was the one I am thinking of – but no harps lol.
Personally I think it would make a great tattoo. I would tackle the white figures by having them…[Read more]

Hi Drive
What Bigbud is getting at is that unless you use disposable inks, tube, needles etc you can get hit by infection by using them again, as they collect bacteria and pathogens from lying around a non sterile area. I would suggest looking at the home studio thread for more details.
But onto the tattoo…
Actually as a first attempt I like…[Read more]

Hi Stealth
That is a very unique idea for a tattoo.
The 15 hrs is prob the ballpark they had based on the intricate and small details that the tattoo has. To make it look like the picture and not some random squiggle you would need an artist who has a very fine eye for detail.
Many artists will say they want it big so they can show the fine…[Read more]

Hi
Not my intention to scare at all. I agree that tattoos can take between 7-14 days depending on the healing process of the person.
I recommended antibiotic check because of the tattoo placement – as you say the foot area can be damp and breed a lot of bacteria – which is why sometimes it is better to be cautious and be told it is fine than…[Read more]

Hi Ant
I am with everybody else on the matter. Your comment about him sometimes messing up a tattoo would be enough to make me run for the door.
As for the actual tattoo – my backpiece I have been looking at that picture now for 7 years. My feelings have not changed in all that time and I know it is the one I want.
My advice is don’t rush the…[Read more]

Hi Infidel
I would recommend the following;
The outline has to be bold – no little lines where you are struggling to see what section is what. The phoenix/eagle has to really stand out.
The body of the bird has to be well detailed (again bold definition) to be seen individually and to stare right into the pupil, see the beak curve. In fact on…[Read more]

Hi KH
You know you touched on something that I would rarely say to a non-tattooed person.
Your’e right it does set us apart – one of my reasons is part of me will never want to truly conform and I guess my ink is an outward expression of that.Perhaps it is defiance mixed with a love of art. Lets face it when ppl are showing tats to one another…[Read more]

Hi Lyndsey
My drawing is so bad it would only confuse things further. ๐
Ok I will breakdown how I picture the tattoo based from your drawing.
To the left of the rainbow you have a waterfall pouring down. From the edge of some rocks or vegetation.
The rainbow is in the same place in your drawing but the start of it is emerging from the…[Read more]

Hi as a followup.
I understand what you mean about not letting others manipulate you to change. In fact I lived my life that way upto 22 (I am now 32).
I did not give a damn about what anybody thought, I did as I pleased and never thought I would look back. The fact is that by 22 all my family are dead – I never had a chance to resolve some of…[Read more]

Hi
Just a few ideas I am throwing in there to liven up your tat;
You could add coloured shooting stars that explode through the centre out to the otherside with a tapering trail.
Add some small butterflies that are fluttering around the edges of the star.
Get a rainbow of your favourite colours from oneside of the star to the other (think…[Read more] -

I personally have nothing against tongue piercings, but I wouldn’t get it done myself.
Previously I have had a nipple piercing and a gen’ piercing (both between 16-19) I still keep my earring because my brother did it on a mad night out when I was 17 :).
The pain is not what stopped me it was having some metal plates put in after a car accident…[Read more]

Hi Spag
Well I spoke with a mate who has the same piercing – sh says it can be done with normal pliers but you have to be real careful and sterilise them first.
It was advised you boil them for a good 30 mins then wipe down with alcohol and use the tip to close the ring with it facing out from the lip.
My view is that it could go hideously…[Read more]

Hi Spag
Don’t you usually need some mini-pliers for that type of piercing??
I would seriously advise getting a pro to pop it in for you – you can end up with an infection or torn lip messing around with it.
They should be able to do it and advise you of the right pliers you need.
Good luck
