The main rule to the scabbing is never pick them – no matter how much the itch.
Give them a slap do not scratch, rub, pick or play with them.

It is always good to wash the tattoo area at least twice a day once on a morning and evening as sweat and bacteria does build up on the skin.

Seriously though a laser would be needed on that piece as a single rose is not gonna cover that piece easily.

That said it is not such a bad tattoo and a bit more shading and small amt of rework around the hair will make it a fine tattoo.

Have to agree sunlight and tattoos (especially fresh ones) do not mix well.
If you can wait until after the festival might be easier than risk getting it banged up.

Bepathen or any other antiseptic can lift ink but only if it is used excessively and/or for a very prolonged period of time.

If you do use it;

Use for the first 2-5 days until the scab forms and put just enough to cover the tattoo. Do not swamp it.

Orange can look brown against darker pigment skin so may not be as vibrant as you would like – you may have to consider that when doing the design.

Out of interest would the text be in english or gaelic?
You could have the text wrapping around the shamrock or across the leaves.

A cover up is not necessary it can be fixed but will mean that the lines have to be thickened making the tattoo bigger.

Not my taste in tattoos and I would seriously bquestion going back to an artist who tatts drunk ppl.

That said it is not a bad tattoo and I personally love 50’s pin ups and think that you could even go portrait from one of the 50’s mags from playboy as inspiration.
