Definitely isn’t like goosebumps, and does not resemble keratosis pilaris, imo.I have only tried the benadryl cream last night and today, and just took some of the benadryl tabs, so we’ll see what happens.
Hope it works! I just think too often we label things as “allergies,” and I tend to cringe every time I hear the word.

Seen a lot of KP; they tend to get red and irritated. The texture is like goosebumps, but they tend to be red and irritated (like pimples). It IS autosomal recessive, but a lot of women tend to have it crop up after skin trauma, so my mind went right to that. The only reason I said anything is she didn’t seem exactly thrilled with Benadryl…[Read more]

If the Benadryl isn’t clearing it, I’d bet money it’s keratosis pilaris aggravated by the tattoo, A&D, and Aveeno. Not a doctor, but it doesn’t sound like hives. DO NOT overwash the area as you’re just aggravating the skin further. Wash it a couple times a day without soap with a “scrub puff.” Apply a light layer of cortisone cream once you’ve…[Read more]

Oh, oh! My turn to practice internet medicine!
Here’s an idea: Test to see if it’s an allergy by taking a first generation antihistamine. Benadryl is a good one, and cheap. Take the maximum dose according to the pill bottle. If it gets better, allergy! If not, eczema. The drowsiness will be a bummer, though. I can’t remember if they have…[Read more]

Very good blog post, however, for those of us who wanted hand-drawn calligraphy drawn on us, I still believe the handwritten word is an art, and one that can look good on a curved surface. If I just wanted computer-generated text, that would be a little silly in my opinion.
In so many ways, the written word is a dying art.

Thank you. I need to take a better picture; every single accent is actually a series of three fan-shaped marks. Gotta get someone to come over and photograph it better. I’m a huge Tolkein and languages fan, so I was excited to get it. 🙂

Absolutely. My tattooist was pretty candid and said she was uncomfortable going much smaller. And the fine details of the text are beautiful; she really did a great job. I don’t know how big you are, but I’m pear-shaped and a size 2 – My upper body just doesn’t offer a lot of room.
Like Adler said, if you have to cram, you may be better off…[Read more]

You bet your fur. It’s a poor quality picture, but here it is:

It really is pretty small, but I’m a smaller person so it looks a little large.

I agree with BigZach; my immediate thought is I’d try standard eczema treatments. The skin looks painfully dry. As a nurse, my best advice is topical and oral zinc with at least a couple daily applications of Tattoo Goo. Zinc can be found either at vitamin shops; your doctor may recommend a prescription strength ointment/cream, or even a…[Read more]
