I am going to get my second tattoo tomorow. I got my first one while in wildwood 2 years ago so I can’t remember what I used then other than it was something from the tattoo shop. I’ve heard many people use A+D on their tattoo for the first few days however i’ve also heard some are allergic to the lanolin in it so I got some today and I put some on (on my leg…i’m getting my tattoo on my shoulder tomorow) and if i’m allergic to it I should have a reaction by tomorow right? I don’t think i’m allergic to lanolin but nothing I can see that i’ve used before has lanolin in it. I am allergic to nickel but that’s all I know of. it’s 1:44pm right now and my apt tomorow for the tat is at 1pm so I figure if i’m allergic I should relize it by then right? Also for the lotion part someone on here mentioned they used and were recommened to by their tattooist on equate advanced recovery…would that be good? Because I found that.
so in short
question 1 I will get a reaction to A+D if i’m allergic by tomorow right?
question 2 equate advanced recovery lotion…good for the aftercare or not?
Thank you in advance for all answers

If you’re allergic to A+D you should be noticing it earlier than that. You would also be feeling discomfort. I bet you’re okay. Usually a skin allergy shows itself by redness, itch, and the occasional hives or rash.

I have a lot of skin allergies. But A+D is not one of those things I’m allergic to. I’m allergic to a lot of perfumes and scented lotions. My skin gets super red and itchy. You can see exactly where the spray was applied and my skin hates it.

You can use Equate Advanced Recovery. This is after a week of using A+D. It doesn’t matter what lotion you use after the A+D just so long as it’s unscented and you use a very thin layer every time you apply. This can be used for another week to two weeks after.

Finally you’ll move to a more common lotion and use that once you get out of the shower only.

Over moisturizing has been a common problem I’ve seen on the forums. This can cause you to break out into acne.

I also did not see your post until today. That’s really odd….

While I too just started the whole blog thing, mine are never going to be informative posts. They will be posts purely on my opinions of things. Using a forum as a source for a paper is ignorant unless the writer says something like “thetattooforum.com” as their source and they don’t do any direct stealing.

Everything is stolen on the internet. I have been noticing all the -students- recently trying to study us as if we’re lab rats. It’s getting sort of ridiculous…

Next if people are sending you hate mail, it means our forum is getting big. You should be proud of that. There are always going to be haters and people just trying to get a rise out of you. They are jealous of what a great thing we have here. Don’t be upset or let their actual -words- get to you because that crap really doesn’t matter.

My emails back would be: I’m honored you took the time to get in contact with me because that means my forum is getting really big.

If I felt really horribly disrespected I would have deleted your post. No harm done, let’s just try to stay on topic.

I know there’s one girl on our forum who has one… I’ll have to find it…

I’m just going to hit on the “permanent” part of this discussion since it’s the only one I can help with…

they are considered temporary because people keep doing the damned things wrong. Yes even if done right, but an experienced piercer, with the best jewelry money can buy, they are a severe pain in the ass. Second problem, I’ve never seen a healed corset piercing anywhere but the back. I would be willing to be any amount of money that rib corsets won’t heal, ever.

So just to quickly bullet-point this as to not make this a mile long post

1 – corset piercings require a crap ton of work to heal. a friend took 2 weeks off of work to get hers to heal enough for her to go back to doing anything and she has to be very cautious with it all the time to keep it there. that being said, it’s been there now for a few years

2 – cbr’s aren’t gonna cut it. regular jewelry isn’t gonna cut it. You want those slightly bendy bars with slave rings attached. Basically 99% of the time you’ll only have the little balls showing. When it’s “dress up” time you put the slave rings on and run the corset threading. If you leave the threading in for any length of time, or god forbid permanently, you’re done

3 – no you shouldn’t thread them immediately if you want them to heal. it’d be the same idea as why you probably shouldnt have sex 5 minutes after getting your penis pierced.

4 – oh and the list of crap you can’t do with them after they’re in is long. you literally have to COMMIT to the idea of these things being worth a serious pain in the ass.

So there ya have it, for whatever it’s worth. But that’s just from my expierences being around and having a friend with a healed one and what it took to get it there and takes to keep it there.

That was funny to read.

I also want to make a few things clear: Your ribs are around vitals.. It’s in your “blood” so to speak, for that area to try and heal as quickly as it can. It’s your body’s Oh Shit Alarm going off. Your ear, lip, nipple or whatever is usually on a part of your body which includes cartilage. The idea behind a piercing is to decorate something that protrudes from your body.

Getting the Corset Piercing still? Heh, good luck. And when you’ve done it, you can give us a step by step update here on how you’re handling everything. Oh and btw, we want to see the pictures and hear what a struggle you’re going through for such a high maintenance body modification.

Because hell. I’d never go through that many piercings at once or that much agony to get it to TRY and heal.

Have wanted a corset piercing since I first saw them… but I have a few questions before I go through with it… I want a set running down each side of my ribs:

1) How many rings would look best? Im quite slender but tall

2) Ive heard they are only temporary.. is this true? If so, is there a way of making them more permanent?

3) Can you “thread” them as soon as they are done, or do they need to be left to heal?

Thank you for reading 🙂

Chrissy

1. It would look best with either more than 5 or they need to be spread out further away from each other.. You need them in proportion to your body length.

2. They are only temporary because eventually they get super annoying (or so I’ve heard) How do you make any piercing more permanent? You have to keep something in it all the time… So when it’s not threaded you need something keeping the hole open.

3. You can thread them as soon as you get them but it is going to depend on your pain tolerance. My recommendation is to wait until they are done “healing.”

Have anymore questions? Ask.

There are generally a few KEY elements to every design. There are things you can do without as well. The artist generally knows these things. If you are wanting a very busy design, give the artist those things that HAVE to be in the piece then give them random other things to choose to tie it together. These things are small and usually easily duplicated for backgrounds. Yes and go and look at an artists book and see what they’re working on when you go to the parlor. Make sure their work is to your liking. You’re living with it on your body for an eternity. Hope this helps.

Example: I’m getting a sleeve. I want it to have a window, chair, and a book shelf. These things have to be in it. If you can fit in a tv and a fan that would be great. I really like the argyle pattern so if you could make that the background to tie it all together, that would be great.

Get it? (Not that I’d get a living room as a tattoo…. this is just an example. lol)

An alpha wolf in a wolf pack. I think of the alpha symbol and a wolf.

5 of hearts. Have the artist stylize it in a girly way. It would be really cool to make it a card.

Another idea is to connect them like a tree. Have each heart be the leaf on a branch or whatever.

http://bumpyduey.deviantart.com/art/Hearts-and-Horseshoes-47589310

This is fractal artwork. You could have a spiral sort of coming from your ankle. Smaller to bigger, heart point out. It sort of looks like a star once you’re done.

What does each heart represent? Give it personality…

5 cards each of hearts in a girl’s hand or something… She could be blowing a kiss. who’s the card holder?

What holds these hearts together?

These are some questions you need to be asking yourself when you are creating/thinking of your design. Hope this helps a little.

This thread will be very useful once it catches on. It’ll be for people who are really serious about getting Ambigram tats. I had a coworker tell me he was looking for some and I remembered seeing some on our forum. I thought… why not create a thread about them. It may take a while, but that’s ok. I think Ambigram tats are the only word/text based tattoos I can actually tolerate or might even consider getting one day.

I have a rib panel line work piece. I’m getting it done this summer with shading.

To answer your main question: It hurt like fuck.

I don’t take pain well. I screamed for the first 30 minutes. It was a four hour sitting. I just couldn’t get used to the intensity. But I’m a very skinny/boney person. The entire piece sucked. Shading is supposed to not hurt as badly as line work, but I guess I’ll be able to compare once I have it done.

I don’t have any other ink done besides that.

Pictures can be found in my albums HERE.

I shook and got cold sweats. I had to take breaks frequently. It was like surgery for me because I slept on my ink for a very long time after I got it done.

If you have anymore questions ask.

It sometimes feels like we just post the same thing over and over, doesn’t it?

Been here since 2008. Welcome to my world. XP!!!!!

As for the original post: Look through some of our albums to get ideas. And yes.. Go around to some parlors and get some artists to design ideas for you. Good luck.
