The actual artist who painted that is Alphonse Mucha. He did a lot of paintings for advertising so there is a ton of stuff to choose from.

It’s hard to explain what I do. I guess if it’s in or on a house, I can fix it or build it. Not bragging, just showing. Hopefully I won’t have to do that stuff anymore after April.

This is me. I am a tattoo apprentice. I apply tattoos to people in the evenings while I build my client base so I can quit my day job.

During my day job I turn rooms like this-

Into rooms like this-

And make changes from this-

To this-

And finish it off like this-

I also make floors that look like this-

Into floors like this-

I spent more money on supplies and equipment than most apprenticeships cost. I would still have paid if I had to though. College students have to buy books and supplies all while paying tuition.

My apprenticeship is/was free. I was expected to do all the setting up, tube scrubbing, sweeping, mopping, customer service, answer phones, run errands, sterilization, cleaning stations after tattoos, draw 3 completed and colored designs daily, so on and so forth. When my work was done I was allowed to sit in with the artists and ask questions and…[Read more]

Thanks dude. And don’t worry about critiquing me. I have thick skin and take any suggestions I can get. I’m a work in progress and I need all the help I can get.

It almost looks like two different people did the line work, The bottom is nice and clean and crisp but the top is a bit wonky. That’s because of the grey-lining and the tiny needle grouping. Like I said, had to get it roughed in. Next sitting is going to be finessing and shading the bits together. I promise it will kick butt.

Just keep them protected from the sun. In the winter when they get a bit dry use some lotion to keep them bright and moisturized. They should look great for years.

I think highly saturated pinks and purples in the flowers with yellows and oranges in the middles of the flowers with yellow being a radiant light source. Blue in the koi will work very well. The important thing in this situation is that you have to be very open to what an artist might suggest when it comes to color.

First sitting on this tiny little tattoo. Just roughing it in right now. The shading is going to define most of the detail. Most of the lines were a light grey wash for future reference and will heal super light. She’ll be back in a month.

So much for starting off small…

It’s pretty bad ass, that’s what it is. That close to the arm pit is torture. Plus, it’s a very well done tattoo.

It’ll work just fine. If you look at Shige’s work you’ll see a lot of grey wash shading under the color. It’ll probably have a lot of depth to it. More so than traditional Japanese styles, but I like Shige’s style better than true traditional stuff anyway.

You should have no trouble getting an apprenticeship. If you walked into the shop where I work, you would walk out as an apprentice. Very, very nice work.

Some of them are actually really well done tattoos. It’s just the subject matter that makes them bad. I love the meat curtains, the Freddy Krueger toilet, and the Frank Zappa tattoos.

Thanks! I’m currently apprenticing at a shop in Buffalo, NY. I’ve been tattooing for about 5 or 6 months now.

The red can be improved upon by adding some orange to the lighter parts of the red. It won’t get any lighter but you’ll see more of a fading effect with the red. I think adding black might make the red stand out even more. If you have some time you can experiment yourself at home by coloring in parts with sharpie markers. You can pretty much find…[Read more]

The best thing he can do is get his portfolio together and hit the streets. Get his artwork infront of lots of tattoo artists and ask for critiques or for things he can improve on. He needs to find a shop that he fits in with and feels comfortable with. He’s young yet and it could take some serious time before he gets a serious offer for an…[Read more]
