My tattoo is over two feet long, and I have never had a single negative comment on it. I’m an industrial bellydancer, so my tattoo is often visible to mass quantities of people, and I am usually complimented on the artwork as much as I am the dancing after my shows. No one has ever implied that I am ‘slutty’ because of a large piece of art on my back. Tattooing has changed. It’s not just for badasses and promiscuous people like I think it was once perceived to be.

I would be a tad concerned about being in a relationship where someone attempts to dictate what it is that I do, especially in a negative way rather than a diplomatic way.

very nice tattoo , the lighting in the portrait is a tad too harsh and makes your arm look deformed !
🙁 sorry just a complete photo snob

Geeeeeeez, did you have to draw attention to my deformed arm? I am super touchy about it. I can’t help it, I was born this way.

haha j/k

Yeah, the lighting was a tad harsh, but I don’t really mind, cuz I wanted the focus to be on the inkwork, and I’m not using these photos for my portfolio anyways. It was a purely creative photo shoot. Twas good times though!

Oh muh gosh I love it!
My next tattoo is most likely going to be a phoenix in black and gray.
I am going to cover my right thigh in it.

Ah man, I find it upsetting when I see stuff like this, mostly because I feel bad for the person that has to either deal with a poorly done tattoo for the rest of their lives, or all the hassel of dealing with coverups or removals.

Aside from sports cars ink is the one thing that I am willing to dish out a good amount of cash for. It’s on you for the rest of your life, afterall.

Very nice.
I had originally planned on going with a design very similar to this. This was my photo reference:

I ended up switching to cherry blossoms because the symbolism was more appropriate for me and I ended up wanting something branchy, but I still love this design!

I used vaseline intensive lotion on the first section of my tattoo like I was told to.
After my second sitting I used H2Ocean.
The difference between the way they healed was really dramatic. The H2Ocean section stayed a LOT darker than the section I used the vaseline intensive on. On my third sitting my artist went over a good portion of the first section all over again. I had to go through the ribs TWICE.
ouuuuch!
haha

I went back and looked at your photo album at the cherry blossoms. Really nice, and it fits you well. My personal opinion is that it would look better in color, if you would add some light pastels to the flowers. But that is just me. I think women look better with color. It accentuates their natural beauty. The Pheonix could be pulled off in black and white, but it would have to be a real good picture.

Try going to dogpile search engine and type in the words IMAGES of PHEONIX and see what comes up. It usually works for me.

I agree, color looks very very beautiful on women. I’m just not a very colorful person. I was semi torn at first when I went in to get my cherry blossoms and thought about doing them in red. But I realized if I did that at some point I would grow tired of the color, where black and gray work I have always always loved.

I think that the artist that did my cherry blossoms would do an amazing job on my phoenix as well. He tends to do the realistic artwork black and gray tattoos of nature beautifully. He’s got quite a few pictures of birds in his portfolio. You should check it out 🙂

My cherry blossoms have been finished since then! I’ve got a photo shoot booked so I’ll have some completed photos soon 😀

Wow, dude, that’s an awful story!
You should have walked right out of there. Tattooing should be an amazing experience.

I went to The Dutchman out here in British Columbia Canada to get tattooed by Rob Hope. It was probably one of the best experiences of my life. They treated me like I was a big deal and so important at that shop. They even bought me lunch and invited me into their private staff lunch room to eat with them. The whole time all the other artists and the receptionist and the owner would come visit while I was getting tattooed and made such a big deal over how awesome they thought the design was.
This was one of the best tattoo shops in BC, and they have people waiting years to get in there. You’d think they’d have a snobby demeanor, but they didn’t at all. They were so welcoming!
I’m seriously excited to go through it again. haha

There are tons of good shops out there that will be able to cover it for you. Put out the extra money and get someone good!

The good artists out here in BC tend to seem to run somewhere from $150 to $200 an hour.
They’re worth it though. If you’re going to put something on your body for good you want it done right. 🙂
