I work in a salon where we are not allowed to have visible tattoos. Mine’s not an issue b/c it’s on my stomach. One of my coworkers has a wrist tattoo so she layers Silly Bands over it. I have more of an issue with the fact that our hair color is supposed to be ‘natural-looking’ b/c that is not my style at all. It is kind of weird that a MAC counter doesn’t allow tattoos as they have an edgier image.

I would get one of those stick on bras (Victoria’s Secret has them and I think Target does too) and keep a roll of double sided tape close at hand for an potential emergencies.

Do tattoo apprentinces not require some sort of liscence, though? It seems weird that you could just ask anyone to do it. You need an apprentince liscence to do hair in a salon if you don’t have your full-fledged cosmetology liscence. (I realize it’s not the same, just an example) This thread just made me curious if his buddy was breaking any laws.

Don’t let anyone push you into anything you’re not comfterable with. If you actually want to work there just work on practicing and perfecting some smaller flash pieces and let the people with the expierience do custom. The tattoo isn’t horrible but it’s not awesome either and you don’t want to be responsible for someone to have to go through painful and expensive laser treatments. But if you don’t really want to do it, just say no. I think everyone might be better off that way.

Is it selfish for me to say you should do it because I want to see it? Seriously, though, make sure you put a lot of thought into it before you do it. Think back to the things you loved when you were five, twelve and sixteen. If you still love them all and are not embarrased by anything I’d say you have a good chance of enjoying your tattoo into your old age.

I just don’t understand why people let someone who has no idea what they’re doing practice on them. There are so many places to get tattooed and if people are spending $50-$100 every month for a cell phone bill (which almost everyone does) surely they can save up enough money to pay for a tattoo?
