I just don’t like it when babies are pierced. I used to have a home daycare and not only does the aspect of infection scare me, but I have saved several babies from choking on earrings or the earring backs. The kind for babies are not supposed to come off, but they do sometimes. I like your point of view on things. No, it doesn’t make you a bad parent, and we as parents don’t always make the right decisions for our children.

I say stay out of the pool for 3-4 weeks. Chlorinated water is bad for a new tattoo. When you do get back in the pool I would keep a thin layer of A&D ointment on it to keep it moist and protected for the first week or so since chlorine has a very drying effect.

It is sad that there is a test to get your drivers liscense, but no test to become a parent and be totally responsible for the life of a human being.

I totally agree with scrubmuncher. Why would YOU decide to put holes in your daughter’s ears? I love piercings and tattoos, but I waited until my daughter ASKED me to get her ears pierced before she got them done. She was 6 at the time. I never mentioned it to her, she just came to me one day and said she wanted it done. I made her wait a week and then asked if she was still sure of what she wanted and we got them done that weekend. I hope you wait, but it is your child.

I forgot to tell you to wash it gently and make sure to rinse it gently, but make sure all the soap is rinsed off.

The color looks cloudy because the artist went too deep and you have scar tissue. It will probably look grey instead of black when it has finished healing. The picture shows that you have scabs, which is not supposed to happen with a good tattoo.
Trust me, I am covered in them and have gotten both good and bad ones. It is red because it is starting to get infected.
Wash it 2-3 times a day with yellow dial soap and water, then let it air dry for about 30 minutes, then put a thin layer of A&D ointment on it and wear something so it can continue to get air. When it feels smooth and has stopped peeling, switch to a fragrance free lotion and apply it anytime the tat feels dry or itches. Best of luck.

It is totally normal for your tattoo to flake off some color, or black in your case. I read the other posts and I have never heard of not getting your tattoo wet. I am covered in tats and I was always told to wash them 2-3 times per day, let them air dry and then apply A&D ointment in a thin layer. They are not supposed to scab although they should get dry and shed or peel some. If they scab, then the artist went too deep. Do not scrub or wash vigorously but wash gently with soap and water and it doesn’t matter if the water hits it directly as long as it is a gentle spray. It is gross to not wash a new tattoo, infection could set in. After the tattoo sheds, then start applying a mild fragrance free lotion to the area. I use palmers cocoa butter lotion on mine, but if your pores clog easily, then use a different kind. Best of luck.

If your tattoo is peeling, that is normal, but if it actually has a scab on it then the artist went too deep into your skin.
Did the same artist do both of your tattoos? I had a tattoo scab up on my ankle and it scarred and took the ink out of it.
I had to get it re-done 3 times to get it to look o.k., still looks kinda smeared though.

I got a tattoo removed from my hand years ago by a lazer and it scarred really bad. I am getting one removed from my neck now and am getting excellent results. It hurts me really bad, but I use a numbing cream 1 hour before which makes it tolerable. Without the cream I cry! I can stand 2 1/2 hours of tattooing without being uncomfortable, but removal is a different pain. It is more like a burn, but maybe mine hurts more being on my neck.

I knew a woman who got a tattoo excised on her hand and it turned out wonderfully. You have to have enough loose skin where the tattoo is for them to remove it and sew it up. I am getting tattoo’s removed by lazer and it hurts REALLY bad, but I am experiencing great results. It is costly and time consuming, so if possible I would recommend for one so small to excise. Just be sure to find an excellent board certified doctor.

Tattoo lazer removal in Memphis, Tn costs about $300 per session at a good place. I got a tattoo on my hand lazered years ago and have a bad scar, but now lazers work much better. I am getting a tattoo on my neck removed and have had 4 sessions so far. It is working, but I will probably need 6 or more sessions to finish. Pretty expensive. If you don’t mind having a tattoo, I would get a cover- up by an experienced cover-up artist.

I am getting one removed in Memphis, TN. The cost here is about $300 per session. Home made ones are supposed to be easier to remove. If you wanted to travel, the Dermatology Realm in Memphis is doing a really great job on mine- no scarring at all.

I have a tattoo on my neck I am getting removed. I have had 3 to 4 sessions and I am getting very good results. Cost is $300 per session and the pain is almost unbearable but I want to become a nurse so I must get it off.
