Shading takes time to settle into the skin fully.
The surface takes 2 weeks but below can take upto 6 weeks before it is fully healed. My black and shade tattoos had a variety of shades from gray to brown before it fully healed and now they are a nice black and gray shade.
Let it heal up if still not happy with the colour it is no big deal to…[Read more]

Hi
If your tattoo was a month old it should have healed enough to survive a brush with granular soap.
That said all ink sheds and can become a little duller with time.Have you torn any of the skin or muscle area with heavy exercise?
I would suggest posting up as difficult to give an opinion without seeing it.
My advice is keep clean and…[Read more]

Hi Husker
You be fine if the skin area has healed.
Tattooing over scar tissue is a little harder to do as you really need to make the ink stay in without damaging/tearing the lower dermis.
That said a skilled artist should be able to do that for you.
Post up what you have done – looking forward to seeing it.

Hi
Just to clarify i am talking 10 years down the line and you can always re-shade (if you really want a full yellow). it is justa really high maintenance colour you cannot get away with leaving.
Have you considered maybe adding orange and drop shading it into yellow highlights?

Hi Teagan
Glad you got a sensible head on when it comes to ink.
If you click on my signature I wrote a tattoo e-book which is an intro for beginners to learn the basics about what a tattoo is, how it works, the risks etc.
It is free and wrote it to give something back to the tattoo community. It might help with some of the more basic…[Read more]

Hi PiggyTubba
You are in luck – I actually research tattoo inks as part of my PhD
Yellow – Perhaps one of the most difficult pigments to replicate the ingredients can vary massivley.
The ones to avoid because of their toxicity are;
Cadmium Yellow, which is a sulphide often found in batteries and for colouring plastics.
Chrome Yellow, this i…[Read more]

For me I just used to sell organs on the black market. 😀
Seriously though like everybody else I just saved up and got the pieces done once I had the cash.
I spent 7 years saving up the 2 grand for my backpiece before my damn medical problems kicked in.My argument is I don’t smoke and not a big drinker and those 2 alone can cost thousands over…[Read more]

Tattoo ink shouldn’t be exposed to mid-day sun if at all possible.
It just gets wrecked by the rays and what is the point of spending so much money to have it browned and blurred?

Hi and welcome.
I gotta say I love crunchy the smooth just sorta welds to the roof of my mouth and takes forever to get rid of.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Do you have photo’s of pet greyhounds? Or have you looked at some of the breeder sites on the internet that show their prize dogs?
You may get some quality pictures there from that source.
S. Neil is absolutely right if you go for photo-realism you need an artist who is experienced with portrait work especially with…[Read more]

Hi Moonknight
I have to say I am with everybody else here. Most of my friends got inked at 14-16 and every one of them had them covered by the age of 20 as they had outgrown the tattoo in tastes.
I did not get inked until well into my 20’s as I wanted to be sure that what I got was something i wanted for life.
Spend some time on the forums and…[Read more]

Hi Wang
To get tattooed by Kat would be a min of $1500 assuming she agrees to do it but they can be $3000 upwards as she tends to just do the celebs/TV shows now.
I visited High Voltage and it is a fine shop but damn is it expensive. Great USA tattoo tour though.
If you want a great tattoo shop in LA try Zombie Tattoo (They did my Lion of…[Read more]

Hi
Depending on spacing you could add a cross behind the tattoo by shaping out the red ink behind the black so it forms a red cross.
Might be tricky really need a photo to see how well it can be done.

Hi Shaine
The letters would have to be big enough to cover the black letters that are already there. They would also have to be bolder otherwise the black would just show through and it would a right mess.
For example:
this is the size of my orig scripture tattoo.
THE TEXT WOULD HAVE TO BE THIS BIG OR BIGGER, ALSO BOLDER TO COVER OVER THE ORIG…[Read more]

Hi Octave
Personally I think your design idea and pictures will make a sweet tattoo.
The key is finding the right artist who has experience in portraiture tattooing as you will want it as life-like as possible on the features.
Take your time in deciding who and don’t skimp on price for a great artist.

Hi
First of all I would suggest the back as it is a wider space to work a complex tattoo on and won’t look too crowded on the area as can spread out.
The design that sprang to mind was a pair of female cupped hands facing outwards. (This would represent you as the mother).
In the palms you could have 3 butterflies floating off the palms each…[Read more]
