There is a huge difference between the type of ink as well. There are a ton of brands and types of ink, so the results will vary. Some kinds will turn yellow, some will just fade away, and some will stick for a long time.

All looks very good, but with the top one the lack of symmetry is irritating me, and the minor mistakes in where the light falls… 😛 But that’s just me being all kind of weird! The leafs look all wrong. But it’s probably just because I can’t see the entire tattoo! Looks like very solid work though 🙂

But damn your artist is slow!!! Five sessions on that piece on your back?? That’s insane. My entire sleeve took about the same amount of time.
Artists work in very very different speeds, but I’ve never heard of anyone taking that long on something like that! Good thing you’re so happy about them! 🙂

You need to go find an amazing artist and have him/her draw it up for you. You can have someone make you a very pretty drawing, but that doesn’t mean it’s gonna work as a tattoo. I agree with GrayCatLove, sometimes you don’t even realize yourself the true symbolism of a tattoo. One of mine is such as well – It was just right, and the symbolism is very strong to me, but very hard for anyone else to understand just by looking at it.
