two hours really isn’t that long. just come with a full stomach. talking to your artist always passes the time and it’ll be done before you know it

my tattoo artist said he wished he had some narcotics to give me to take the edge off lol. apparently that really makes it a LOT easier. cannabis, on the other hand, enhances sensations including for a lot of people and he said he’s seen people pass out from being high while getting work done.

tattoos are like a buffer. i am kind of shy and withdrawn so having them makes me feel confident. i would not want to work in an environment or a career where i am going to be judged or discriminated against for having tattoos (i am pursuing an arts degree) nor would i want to be in a relationship with someone who thinks that way, whether i was inked up or no. but on the flip side, i wouldn’t want to be objectified for having tattoos either. it’s a double edge sword and you just have to quit giving a shit.

If you go in expecting it not to be too bad, then you’re retarded. Don’t be over confident about the pain of getting ink done. (That is unless you get some on a regular basis.) My artist told me that it’s the big burly tough guys who pass the fuck out. It’s the skinny bitches who take it the best. Pain tolerance differs per person. And as said before, each person is different. Definitely get ink done where you want it rather than what you’ve been told is going to hurt the least/most.

very true. when i was getting tattooed the other day one of the other artist in the shop came over to chat with my artist, and was complaining about how he wanted to finish getting a full back and side panels done but gunshy about the pain. this from a guy already heavily inked and tattoos for a living! they both agreed that the older they got, the harder it was to muster up the courage haha. even the artists don’t take the pain lightly

thanks everyone! im so pleased with how it turned out. i’m going to use my mom’s camera to take a better pic once it heals up a little more, because right now its in that stage of healing where the colors are all wonky. this is my first large tattoo, and it’s sore as hell! when does it get less painful? haha

I literally ran into Lil Wayne a few months ago in a local mall. I thought he was going to shoot me but he didn’t.

but he’s in jail!

i do love the way his tats all flow together. a lot of people don’t like script tattoos but i do, and his are awesome

i have a large piece on the side of my hips and the areas on top and inside of my hip bone hurt like hell. the butt hurt really bad too. some parts of the side of the thigh felt like a breeze, but when he hit those sensitive spots – christ!

you find lil wayne sexy? i love him but….. sexy….? haha

i think tattoos look good if you have only one or two, OR if you go all-out and get a LOT. i dislike it when people have five or six disconnected, mismatched and random tattoos. but thats just my personal preference

normally i’m not a fan of cross tattoos but this one is really well done and i’ve never seen text “ingraved” like that before… your artist did a great job

wow this thread really struck me, because i too have OCD and was diagnosed with it from a very young age. personally, my OCD manifested itself in very specific compulsions and repetitions. so maybe if there is a certain pattern in your life that your OCD repeatedly deals with, or maybe a certain incident or memorable episode that was difficult to overcome, you could incorporate that into your tattoo. i think no matter what you decide on, it will be a very powerful piece because this is a very personal and abstract disorder. good luck with everything 🙂

my first tattoo was a memorial tattoo for my grandfather as well, and i don’t regret it. it’s become such a part of me now that i hardly notice it’s there, which to me is the mark of a good tattoo (not thinking twice when you see it, and when you do register it, it makes you happy).

but yeah you sound really hesitant. taking some time to think it over is a sound idea, because who knows in the mean time you may come up with something even better! also i would think long and hard about the cross thing. not to knock crosses or religion but my personal beliefs have changed LOADS in the last two years, and you never know where you will be down the road. why not think about something more specific to your grandfather, like relating to a song he liked or his favorite animal like the raven McTwist mentioned. crosses, angels, etc. are not the only way to memorialize loved ones who have passed.
