replied to the topic Modern day tattooing question ? in the forum General Tattoo Discussion 16 years, 8 months ago
Hi
Whilst writing my doctorate I had to examine the development of tattooing equipment and technique from several cultures from ancient times through to modern day.
The last 15-20 years has seen a revolution in tattooing equipment and the needles are way finer than the barbed poles of the 50’s and 60’s.
It still hurts but I would reckon it…[Read more]

Hi
A few suggestions;
My first thoughts are get a few pictures of either athletes in pose or anatomy drawings in a similar style so that the tattoo artist can get a more life-like muscular-structure.
I would also suggest tilting the head slightly to one side to allow for the face to be seen but also in part shadow – so one side will be lit up…[Read more]

Hi
You know I had this discussion with a friend last night over a beer. He was moaning about the fact he cannot get a tattoo apprenticeship in Leeds or surrounding areas.
To be fair he is a talented artist and spent many years working in the graphic design but he stated he wanted a change.
I advised him he wasn’t hungry enough for it.
As has…[Read more]

Hi a cover up should be easy enough.
If you like flames I would suggest maybe blue and red as both would be able to cover over the orig ink quite well.
I would seriously suggest a pro artist to do the flames and whilst at it have them redo the tattoo below and make it shine.

Hi
You really need to wait for your immune system to build back up.
I have had a similar issue and the reason is that the body treats the pigment of tattoo ink as a foreign body that is invading the body.
The white blood cells rush to the scene and try and force the pigment from the body – this causes the mild fever that sometimes ppl get after…[Read more]

Hi and welcome
Check out this site primarily religious tattoos but many are memorial type tattoos that might inspire

That said nothing wrong with an old school heart and scroll every decent tattoo artist should have several designs of this type.
Sorry for your loss.

Hi
It is a very reasonable question and was one of the first I ever asked about tattooing.
The tattoo artist will have all the inks in sterile pots in front of you.He will then dip the needle into the pot once lifted it will buzz this draws the ink into the tube and coat the needle.
When it is time to change colour the artist will dip the…[Read more]

Hi
To be honest to do it some serious justice you need to use up as much of the space towards the centre that you can manage.
If you do that it will be a mind blowing piece!
This is because you can really get the fine detail which makes a good tatt a great tatt. If you go shoulder you are cramping the size of the piece and have to account for…[Read more]

Hi
If you are near camden i would recommend Evil From The Needle – some very talented artists there.
The tattoo will look sweet.
The cost is gonna be at London prices about £75 to £120 or so depending on size if quite small I reckon £80-£90 for a med size and less for a small.

Hi
Unless you are doing pro body building or steroids the tattoo should be ok as long as don’t get it along joints of the body such as armpit or knees.
I would advise the chest or upper bicep/tricep as these can easily be covered and will not stretch so much unless you go crazy.

Well me and KH always differ on the issue whether a tattoo needs deep personal significance 😀
3 of my tattoos have deep personal significance to me (and no Knighty I sure as hell ain’t middle-class lol 😉 .
