I’ve got to get myself on this blogging mlarky, there is good money to be made when registered with Google Ad Sense!

I have been running this blog for over a year and do not have a single ad on it. My goal is to fight against the stereotypes about people with tattoos that I see all over the web, not to make money.

You guys are proving my point. There are tons of people with tattoos who don’t drink at all. But you aren’t likely to find them out at a bar on a Saturday night. This is just one of the many flaws of this study. It makes me angry that so many people are taking it seriously and reinforcing another stereotype.

I completed your survey, but since I am the only one in my family with a tattoo, there wasn’t much to answer. I’m kind of curious why the questions about age and regret were directed only at family members and not the person taking the survey.

People are already concerned about normal tattoos and MRI machines. How is this ever going to work?

Here’s a newer shot a few months after it was fully healed.

Thanks guys. I thought this thread was long dead and forgotten.

I’m still loving my tat as much as the day I got it and plan on adding to it soon. I spoke with my artist recently and we may add an underwater koi to the inside of my arm.

It just seems like everyone has the koi. I want to do something different. I dont want people to see my stuff and be thinking that im just another jackass with money to burn and no free thought, just following the crowd.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there are lots of people out there that will think that by getting any tattoos you are just another jackass with money to burn and following the crowd, it doesn’t really matter what it is. So, do yourself a favor and get what you want and stop worrying about what other people will think.

People that know tattoos will recognize the Koi for what it is and what it represents. But as I have found out, the average person walking the street has no idea what a Koi is and see it simply as a fish. I have been asked on multiple occasions if I was a fisherman since I got my Koi. I have educated quite a few people about the legend and meaning behind the Koi.

since i was a kid i really wanted to have tattoos on my body,i think guys with tatts are cool but sad to say my mom would kill me if she finds out i had it on me,where should i place my tattoo to hide it:confused:

Just analyzing how you phrased your question makes me think you aren’t ready for a tattoo. If your reason for wanting one is that “guys with tatts are cool”, then you still have some maturing to do. Maybe by that time, if you still decide that you want a tattoo, you will be ready to man up, get what you really want, then go home to mom to show it off.

My mom was never a big fan of tattoos, but when I got mine at 32 years old, she loved it. Hell, even my grandparents think it’s awesome.

Looking really good man. I think I would go crazy if I had to wait so long between sessions.

I think we can summarize: small places accept tattoos whereas large corporations generally discourage visible tattoos?

I don’t really think it can be summarized in that way.

I work for a very large corporation (400,000+ employees) and they don’t seem to have any issue with tattoos. My office has a few hundred people and there are probably a dozen with visible tattoos.

And then there are other people in this thread talking about small grocery stores that have policies against visible ink.

I think a more accurate summary would be that some places accept tattoos and others discourage them. I don’t think it can be made any more specific than that. Unless the company has an official policy, you will most likely find differences from one manager to another, or between departments within the same company. In most cases it probably comes down to the individual you are dealing with in the company. If they have tattoos, or someone they know does, it will have a huge impact on their policy.

Take a look at my gallery. I have a dragon that goes over my shoulder and onto my back. The style could easily be adapted to flow down your arm instead of onto your back.

Placement is a very personal thing. I wouldn’t change a thing about the position of my tattoo, but it depends on the look you are going for.

That is a beautiful piece! The detail and realism are amazing.

I’m finally finished for now, but I will definitely be adding to this piece in the future.

There was some time left at the end of the session and I had him add some detail on the Koi, under the water.

I know it’s too late now, but I have to ask this question. Was there a stencil made, or was this piece sketched with a marker on your skin before the actual tattoo process started? If so, a lot of these issues could have been avoided by voicing your concern much earlier in the process. Even the simplest of tattoos should be drawn first. You shouldn’t let a needle touch your skin until after the design and placement are acceptable to you.
