I’ve got to be honest, tribals aren’t normally for me. Partially because they just don’t “do it” for me, but partially because of the type of people you often see wearing them. But then i also try and avoid stereotyping people and i’m sure you’d dislike a lot of the things i like, but that’s just my opinion.

That said, i think tribals CAN be used to make good tattoos, and it sounds like you’ve got some fresh ideas which is nice and makes a change from most of the standard crap you see people getting.

I also agree that tattoos don’t have to have a meaning. You wouldn’t refuse to buy a painting or a wallpaper with a patern on it because the pattern had no personal meaning to you. I’ve got nothing against having meanings behind a tattoo, but it doesn’t seem neccissary to me.

1 – If you’re old enough to have a tattoo then what your mom thinks shouldn’t matter, you’re an adult now
2 – Regardless of point 1, don’t get a tattoo to be a rebel against your mum
3 – Getting a tattoo because they are “cool” is not a good reason to get a tattoo
4 – What’s the point in getting a tattoo just to hide it away?

You don’t need to justify your decisiong of getting a tattoo to us or anyone else, it’s your body and your desision ultimately.

If you go to a (feel free to look through more than one) tattoo shop with a decent artist they will probably have a range of fonts in their shop to show you that you could pick from or just get inspiration from if you want your own. Describe to him/her what you want, they will draw you up a stensil (normally costs around £10) and then you go back to see if you like it when it’s done and they take it from there.

Designing your tattoo when you haven’t designed it yourself is best discussed with your chosen artist as you will need to discuss it with them anyway and they will often give you advise on what they think will look good and after all, they’re the experts who’ve done this hundreds of times, it’s often worth listening to them.

This obviously varies between artists. But, depending on size, since it isn’t too complex and is only in one colour i would guess at just below £100.

I wouldn’t expect to pay much more than £100 unless you;re going on Miami ink or something.

Like i said, depends totally on artist, location (in the world i mean), size, different inks and detail/difficulty.

I think it;s best to get something that people will be able to tell what it is quickly.

Was this your first tattoo?

Like the others said, whatever tattoo you have, if it’s on your neck, you’ll probably always get looks.
If you can’t afford/don’t want to get it lasered and can’t find a suitable cover up, there is always make up.
Sounds girly, but you can get foundation (or whatever) that can cover things like this up. I once saw a picture of that guy who’s tattoo’d like a zombie with foundation on his face and you couldn’t actually tell he had tattoos at all. But then, this would probably cost a lot of money to keep doing.

It’s sort of impossible for us to suggest a cover-up without seeing the tattoo, and even thien, you;re way better off having a conversation with an artist who you can sit down and talk to face to face.

FYI, to upload photo’s to a forum, either use the built in galleries, or join Photobucket and use the code it gives you.

The black looks slightly patchy, but most artists will touch up things like that for free once it’s had time to heal properly.

Out of interest, i’m in the midlands, which shop/artist you using?

I like it.
It’s way better than a lot of the generic heart chest pieces i keep seeing everywhere.

It’s obvious you were going for a cartoony look, and it shows, and i think the colours are pretty nice.

Tbh, i think that could look a lot worse, it’s not that bad and i’ve seen a lot worse.

Sadly, because of the size and how spread out it is, it looks like it could be rather difficult to cover that up. Really, you could do with paying a professional artist to look at this, it’s much easier to decide when you can see something in the flesh.

Do you have any ideas what tattoo you would want there instead?

Amazing idea my friend…
Love the thought in it!
Love the quotes too… What music is that?!

Make it realistic!!!! Post images if you get anything drawn up!

ETID is like southern hardcore. Really different from most hardcore though, has some really epic riffs and (as you can see) really well thought out lyrics. About my favorite band int he world right now.

I was going to get it drawn up this weekend, but alas my funds would not permit. Oh well, get paid next week.

A lot of people seem to get this tattoo. Looks kinda cool, but i’m not a massive fan of Black Flag and it’s a little generic now.

Well, i work at an engineering company but in the offices (i’m an apprentice designer). One of my bosses (a director) has a tattoo of a carp on the top half of his left arm and when wearing some shirts you can see the bottom and when he’s wearing a white shirt it often shows through. He had this before becoming a director. So i think it really is just down to what specific people’s opinions of them are. You can be unlucky and find companies with strict policies against them or find one that you can climb the ranks to director with one that’s often visible.

@ yodaddynukka;
Thanks. I’ve been looking for some ideas of what type of robot to do, there’s so many cool designs out there. That sleeve looks absolutely ace.

@ ljfran;
Oh it will definitely be realistic. Thinking of going to a tattoo convention this weekend and having a look through some artists and maybe getting something drawn up.

@ gnarly;
I’ve been thinking dancing is the way to go. I asked somewhere else and a couple of friends and dancing seems to be the general favorite. I think them fighting people are just going to think “oh look, he has a tattoo of a robot and zombie fighting, what a dick” and not think of any symbolism or anything.

For the robot i’m thinking of something like this:
linkyn-reanimation.jpg
Not that exact one, i need it to be obvious that it’s a robot, but looks a bit different. Unless the artist can draw a cool looking old school square headed thing. The zombie shouldn’t be too difficult to think of, they all look pretty similar, i want him to look all rotten and gross, lol.
