Who cares, if that’s the artist who does work that you love. Plus you’ll have 2 or 3 years to save up. Once you have talked to him about what you want and he starts to draw something up for you he will be able to give you a rough estimate of hours and cost before you get started.

Look at tattoo pictures. Lots and lots of them. Look at the lines, are they clean and even or does the line weight change. Are they straight or wiggly? Look at lots of good and bad tattoos and you will get better at spotting both kinds. Then there’s the shading, is it smooth? Does the piece look flat and lifeless or does it “pop”?

Both of my last two are realistic tattoos with some abstract elements as part of the background/outside edges. TattooIsh did them both. It’s kind of his thing these days.
