Far from impossible IMO. My portrait of my bro is about 2.5″ X 3.5″ and the actual size of his face in the original pic was smaller than 1″ X 1″. A decent artist will be able to draw that up bigger.

Like the others have said, you are doing the right thing. I spent quite of time looking for the “right” tattooist and I am glad I did as I have been happy with my results. This is something that has got to be right first time so you will want the best.
