Thanks. As you can tell by my arms which were tattooed first I wasn’t always into the traditional Japanese style but Mario Barth’s movie “Under the Skin” really had a huge impact on how I viewed not only Japanese tattooing but tattooing in general and tattoo etiquette. If you’ve never seen it I highly suggest seeking out a copy of it.

I think everyone has their own lotion that they find works best for their skin just through trial and error. Personally I use Palmer’s concentrated cocoa butter while healing and once I start cleaning it while showering I use Aveeno skin relief body wash with oatmeal whule in the shower. More than a few people have Koi tattoos and even though I liek to stay away from stuff overdone due to a memory of Koi from my childhood they do have a meaning to me so one day I will have some Koi inked. Overdone maybe but then again not many subjects in tattooing are 100% original these days. It’s all up to what the individual wants imo.

Also wash it with antibacterial soap. Using a nasty old bar of regular soap that’s been sitting in the shower for weeks isn’t gonna do any good for keeping bacteria off it. Also I personally stay away from any greasy oinments on my fresh tattoos. Hope the doctor can get you fixed up.

I’ve only gotten tattoos from tattoo shops and I have never seen a washer, dryer, and refrigarator in any good shops work area. That should be the first thing to make you want to put the idea of getting tattooed by this guy out of your mind.

I have some white on my sleeve and even though it isn’t years old yet it hasn’t faded at all and still looks as white as when I got it. It was done with Intenze ink so maybe white done with a very cheap ink would fade more but I’d consider other options to get the look it sounds like you want.
