Haha, this guy is CLEARLY a troll!

The giant penis-squid sealed the deal. The “radi-skull” looks like it was done with a biro. And the unicorn tattoo is clearly a piss-take: “This is a small unicorn on my left foot. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but the heart is green symbolizing luck. This piece reminds me that we all need room in our lives for a little fantasy.”

Stop feeding the troll guys!

Wow, that is an ambitious backpiece! Looks fantastic so far – should look even better once the scales are on.

What was the most painful part of the back? I’ve heard the kidney region is pretty sore!

Thanks Sherav, I just took these 2 quickly; its the best I could do I’m afraid. Its surprisingly hard to take a photo of your own arm!

The artist (for the bird, flowers, clouds, etc) was Emma Grech from Lady Luck in Portsmouth. Her waiting list is quite large now. I tried to get a sitting for some more outline work, but she was booked for quite a while.

I agree with the rework, the cross has faded quite dramatically now. I’ll ask Emma to touch it up. The next sitting I’m hoping to have a humming bird, more lillies and some water outlined. This’ll be on my forearm. My family’s from Guyana, so that was the “theme” for the tattoo – nature native to the Amazon. I like Japanese tattoos though, so the style features heavily.

Originally my parents were against tattoos (I guess there was more of a stigma around them when they grew up).

I told my parents I was getting one, and although they didn’t approve, I got it anyway.

I continued to get it added to without them knowing, and eventually they grew to like the work I had on me!

Your mum should love you unconditionally, and hopefully a tattoo won’t change that.

Saying that, maybe getting something a bit more lowkey would be a better approach? I don’t think a tribal sleeve would be the best way of easing your mum in to your new hobby! Get one hidden under clothing maybe?

Wow, you’re incredibly defensive and obviously know me very well.

IMO your post didn’t sound like it was trying to help. To me it felt like it was denigrating decorative tattoos.

You obviously had good intentions (despite your fascination with the caps lock button).

You’ve totally sussed me; from my 2 posts on this forum you can see that I’m a “big shot fucking idiot with my head up my ass”, so I’ll take my leave from this thread.

Come on man, this isn’t Miami ink. Everyone doesn’t need a “story” to get a tattoo. If the OP wants to get a decorative tattoo, then why shouldn’t he?
