Thanks so much for the advice, its really good to get different opinions. I do understand that I wouldn’t be able to tattoo this stuff to begin with, I’ve mostly been trying to upskill with my drawing. The majority of these pictures are for my project so there is an underlying brief that I have to conform to and part of that was to put our work out there on a site and get feedback so I really appreciate you giving me some 🙂

I’ll take that advice and do some smaller stuff I think, it makes sense. This challenge hasn’t quite panned out how I expected and its turned into more of a drawing thing rather than tattoo designs. I do like to surround myself with tattoo art and hopefully its not a bad thing that I have high expectations of tattoo because I think it will just make me work harder to achieve that level of realism and creativity, I do know Im not at the level yet.

Thanks again, that was valuable stuff.

Got the shading finished three days ago. Feels good to have it looking a little more done. My tattooist said he’s just got to add the white highlights to make it pop. . . I went home and was thinking about what he said and now I’m scared he’s forgotten I wanted it all coloured, because I haven’t seen him for a while. Is it too dark now to be coloured?

Thank you
I liked the idea of a workshop but kind of agree that it could be quite busy.
So do you think hazy ranges and road would work best?

…haha, felt the pressure to get this one right because my old man gave me the subject

Looking for some advice for the background of this. Tried to get proportion better on this drawing but wondering what would be best to put in the background if this was going to be a full grey scale back piece? My first thought was open road and ranges but I’d love to discuss something more creative.

Sweet. I did study the muscle structure for this but if I was to paint it again I would add the white part over the spine and I think the bottom part isnt quite right. The top definitely is though.

Thanks for the crit on the gun. Now someones said I can see clearly how out of proportion that handle is. This one I did with cheap face paint on a friend, just to play around with the idea. It’s the basic shape of New Zealand. . .refreshing to get good honest critique, only way to learn, so fire away 🙂

Ok thank you for the advice. much appreciated. Is the concept there though?
This was week ones drawing, bit more simple. Could I get some thoughts on it too? . . .I do know the shadow is slightly off.

The star was the first tattoo I ever did myself. Got given a second hand gun to play with and I just couldn’t resist using it on real skin. It was only my second time using the gun but I thought when I get good I’ll fix it up and turn it into the Southern Cross. My first tattoo is by the same artist as this one and is on my ankle.
