For color realism, check out Stefano at Last Rites. He charges $225/hr, but that’s not uncommon in NYC. Cost of living is ridiculous as I’m sure you know. :/

$225/hr is high but it’s not outrageous for this area, especially for a world class shop. Booth charges $400/hr. 😮

Price is definitely an issue for me. I’m looking for someone $150/hr or less which I know is going to be super hard for NYC, not so much for NJ.

I know the main stumbling block is going to be finding someone willing to finish someone else’s work. I was given the suggestion of getting established with a new artist and then later on approaching them about finishing my arm. That could work, especially since I DO want more tattoos.

Maybe someone will take pity on me….

(And Deno Cook’s sea life stuff is sick! If/when I ever get out to Atlanta…..)

Check out Sean Zee in NJ for the sea life piece. He’s no Deano Cook, but he’s pretty good.

Another one to check out – and probably my favorite artists in NJ – is Chris Adamek. I like his B&G stuff more than his color work, but his color work is good as well.

Have you considered asking for a rework? If you tell someone you have no plans on ever returning to the original artist for whatever reason, you’re more likely to find someone willing to do a rework than simply add on to someone else’s piece.

If i was guaranteed to get good work like that Morgan freeman piece (red) i would give him a $400 tip when it’s done. There is no other word for that work other than awesome.

Same here in Sydney, but the cost of living is nuts here too.

I don’t how that equates to USD offhand, but I will say that the street shops in my area charge $100-125 and I wouldn’t get ink from any of them. Meanwhile, world class artists down where mrchen lives are charging $150. As the real estate agents say … location, location, location.

Yeah to be honest i do wish i lived in a different location. North-west England is a shit hole to be honest with wannabe gangsters.

Beats me. He’s good, but there are better for far less money and less waiting. A lot of collectors just go by name though.
