Best “type” ?

As in, best type of laser. I know it is important as to WHO the laser technician is. But is there a certain type of laser/machine that works best?

So, i went back to the shop i got it done at….booked an appt to talk to someone else there when the guy who did my tat wasnt in….a few guys looked at it, were def not impressed by the ink job and said theyd try to even out some lines, but were scared that the lines would be too close together and look like a big blob. they suggested doing some sort of shading behind it in a diff colour, but i figured that would only make it worse if/when i go to get it lasered.

They didn’t think it was done well. Without downright saying “wtf happened here” they were def questioning how the other guy did it so poorly.

Looks like it will be getting lasered..really didnt wanna 🙁

That is great that you see that we are actually trying to help, So many people hear what they don’t want to hear and run away crying from here.

please before letting the shop owner tattoo you post a link to his portfolio here. Best of luck on this.

I think Erin Chance is tattooing out of Toronto now. Erin Chance Tattoo | Tattoo

I do appreciate it. Tough love haha. Like I said, I knew it was bad…just didn’t wanna admit it to myself.

I will keep you guys posted 🙂

Well, you’re not going to get that removed just yet (IIRC it takes some months to heal before you can start zapping it) but definitely get a consultation. You may also be able to expedite the destruction process by basically doing everything you shouldn’t do to a new piece of ink. Do a lot of tanning, for instance. Although that might just get you cancer in the end, so maybe that’s not such a solid plan :p

Thanks guys for your brutally honest feedback haha (but really, thanks)

I e-mailed the shop I got it done at, said I wasn’t happy and that it wasn’t done well and they genuinely seemed concerned that I wasn’t happy…going in to meet with the shop owner next week to see what (if anything) can be done.

Also booked a consultation at a tattoo removal place..which is kind of what I’m learning towards….don’t think it can be saved.

The whole thing. It could have been so much better. It looks very uneven, shaky as shit and it’s hard to tell from the small pic but it looks blown out.

Canada is a big country with lots of tattooist can we maybe get a little more precise?

Welcome. You are right to be pissed that is a poor tattoo. Your tattooist has been tattooing for 20 years poorly. It is done and not much to do about it now except go kick him in the nuts and demand the he/she pays for your laser secessions. It is time to find a new tattooist to help you cover that crap up. That is where we can help you find a better tattooist before making a horrible decision again. What part of the world do you live in?

Thanks for your response. Yeah I am pissed….and it’s one of those things that since it was a big decision and (kind of) permanent, I didn’t want to admit to myself that it was bad. Gives me anxiety actually when I think about it….I live in Canada.

Just curious, in your opinion, aside from the shaky lines what else makes it look like it wasnt done well?

Sorry, but you can’t blame a poor tattooer for making a poor tattoo on you, the person who made the poor decision to go to said poor tattooer. Also, getting the money back should be the LEAST of your problems. It can’t have cost much anyway.

You aren’t happy with your first tattoo. This is exceedingly common, and indeed seems to be the rule rather than the exception. Your next one will probably be better. Be thankful for that 🙂

I know what you’re saying…but all you can do as a tattoo newbie is look into places, ask people for recommendations and check out previous work. I paid $160 Canadian.

How do you know this?

If it’s correctly done it will not hurt much more than getting the tattoo, and will leave no scar, especially since you’ll always be tattooing something new over it. 🙂

I guess it depends where you go…I’m just pissed that I’m not happy with the tat in the first place 🙁 He should give me my $ back!!

Welcome to the forum.

The picture is really too small to judge just how bad the actual execution is but the drawing it self, (although I love the concept of the heart G-clef) as you yourself are finding, is lacking in quality. What jumps right at me is the lack of separation between the dot at the bottom and the vertical line.

As for fixing it, you really can’t do anything to fix the initial drawing, since it’s on you already. You’ll just have to learn to love it’s quirks, or have it removed/covered.

Oh, and having tattooed for 20 years does not equal you’ve been doing it GOOD for 20 years. To some extent, I’d even consider guys with two decades of experience to be at a distinct disadvantage, because they may not have kept up with the times and evolved with the art.

See, I did give him a print-out of a design I wanted and he altered it slightly, but not much. I did try and do some research and look into places, so went to a reputable place and they showed me some of his work and put me with him. There’s no question I wanted a treble clef, but yeah something about it isn’t sitting right with me. Kinda freaks me out that I’m unhappy with something permanent on my skin……I may look into removal as an option later on, but know that it is painful and leaves a scar.

Well, I’m with Sam. Your best bet is probably going to be a laser, and start over. Also wondering f it couldn’t be worked into a huge tiger, but not sure you want such a large tattoo.

Really eh? I mean, it’s the design I wanted more or less…just doesn’t look 100% how I pictured it for some reason…I don’t really want to have it lasered at this point at least. Any suggestions other than that?
