Hey everyone. I got a new tattoo on 2/27. It was a long session (6 hours) but everything was going ok afterwards. Followed artist instructions to clean and apply Aquaphor 4 times a day for 5 days then stop. Skin started to peel (like a sunburn) around day 5 and the skin underneath was shiny and taught. I followed up with my artist and he said NOT to put lotion on it….just wash it and let it dry. My concern is the shiny skin under the peel started to harden and now it feels like a scab. Like the whole tattoo feels like a scab…not the shiny pliable skin after a peel. Not a very thick scabby feeling except for some spots that were worked on a bit during the initial session. It’s very tight but not painful. I followed up again with him and he said it’ll go through a second peel. Is this normal? This is not my first tattoo but the first one where I was told not moisturize during the peeling stage. Any input is appreciated. Thanks!
