Ok.. I need some help! I am desperate. I got a tattoo SIX days ago and it has been HELL ever since. The tattooist was VERY VERY heavy handed. We started the outline which took about an hour and a half… took a 4 hr break ((biggest mistake ever)), and then concluded with two and a half hours of coloring and shading. I have a high threshold for pain, so I didn’t really complain too much during the process. But, The next morning, when I woke up, It was SOOOOOO painful! This immediately raised a red flag for me. This is tattoo #26 for me, and never before had I experienced so much pain. The pain was so bad that I at times, I could not bare weight on my leg. The pain was then followed by what was initally clear oozing fluid and swelling from my KNEE to my TOES! (btw: The tattoo is on my left calf). The clear oozing then turned to mulitcolored oozing… and the swelling and pain became unbareable. That lead to trip to the emergency room (day #4) I was treated for early signs of cellulitis AKA skin infection.. and the oozing, pain, and swelling have pretty much been resolved. So now to the issue at hand, the tatto is COVERED with NASTY scabs.. From the looks of it, the tattoo is RUNIED! I got this tattoo as a memorial for my brother who passed away. (ps: the day I got the tattoo, it was his birthday, June 8th) So, it really has a lot of sentimental value to me. On top of the fact that it is a pretty nice size tattoo. I really would like not to be scarred for the rest of my life. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might do to salvage this tattoo?!?!? BEWARE… The Current Pictures are pretty nasty!!

maybe one of the experienced folks can give you some advice but to me it looks like Scarification in some parts!

There’s nothing you can do now but wait and see how it looks in a few months and go from there. The line work, shading, and pretty much everything else on that piece is poorly done so I think the entire piece will need to be re-worked. Unfortunately, some of that stuff (e.g. the “In Loving Memory”) was likely unfixable even before it started scabbing and so forth.

That’s terrible. Looks like a wash to me. Next time go to a professional. Maybe it will wash out a lot and be easier to cover, granted there’s not a lot of scar tissue.

no doubt what a mess,

four hour break is a big mistake, but you ackowledge that, your bidy is going thru trama while being tattooed, the quicker and lighter handed the better

the swelling can be prevented, if you plan on alot of ink on a body part like you leg expect swelling, I do, you need to have your feet up as many hours as possible………………I realize for working people thats not easy, I put mine up at work

whatever aftercare was going on I guess it failed, the ozing started the scabs (bacteria)

I would wait plenty of time, like 6 months and you can have this professionally done
