Hey guys,
I’m new here, I love tattoos and I’m seeking some advice about a sleeve I want to get.

I’ve got a couple tattoos already, but I want to get a sleeve on my left arm that visually depicts Psalm 23.

So, on my upper arm, I would want something to represent the second part of the Psalm “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil” I want to get an Albrecht Durer engraving called “Knight Death and the Devil” I pasted a link below to that picture. I would obviously get that in black and grey.

And then on the lower part of my arm, I’d want to get something that depicts the first part of that Psalm “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.” So this part of the sleeve would be much calmer and peaceful. I’m curious about what it might look like to have my upper arm black and grey and my lower arm in color. Would it look weird? 99% of the time, I’d rather get a black and grey tattoo, but that particular passage is very colorful (it even says ‘green pastures’) and I’m always up for getting something unique. And I think a half black and grey, half color sleeve would be super unique. But would it be too unique? I’d love to hear some of your thoughts. Thanks!

I am no expert but shouldn’t good be upper arm and evil part on the bottom? Well I guess it doesn’t have to be but for me personally I think it would work better colour top part of arm going into black and grey with maybe some nice shading between the two to make the change over less abrupt?

Thanks for the response! That’s a good idea, I like that actually. The reason for wanting the black and grey up top was mostly because I have a tattoo on my upper arm already on my inner bicep (it’s another verse in the Psalms) and I thought it would be more easily incorporated into the black and grey Durer piece than the green pasture one. But I agree, it probably would look more natural with the color being up top and the black and grey on my forearm area.
