*dont know if this was asked before or not*

just wondering how many people get the outline done then the coloring done in another session.. whether is because of the pain, pricing, size etc.

i know most of my sleeve work is being done in sessions..usually the outline, then go back couple weeks later for the color

It really depends on the size of the piece. On a smallish rose you can easily do linework, shading, and color in one sitting. At the shop where I work we generally have 3 hour appointments because it can get tedious tattooing the same thing for more time than that. Also, sometimes you can see the client getting fidgety and you know it’s about time to call it for the day. With bigger pieces it’s also easier for the client to pay for it in smaller chunks. Everyone wins.

1 of my three half sleeve tats was done in one session and it messed up really bad. Still waiting on a touchup for it.

it all depends on the size and artist. some artists like to do outline first and then color, some like to do sections at a time.
