Hi this is my first post so fist of all i want to say hi. I have a chinese sign for good luck on my left shoulder, and im planing a full sleeve but i was wondering if its bad luck to mix chinese and japanese tattoo art on the same arm. Im thinking on gettting a koi fish on my arm but i just dont want to mix japanese and chinese if its considered bad luck or bad practice. Please let me know, it will help me plan out my sleeve alot. Thanks.

Hi

It is not bad luck and the only ppl who may take some offence are the conservative members of either society (who tend to be anti-ink anyway).

Whilst they do have many cultural differences Chinese and Japanese (and to some extent Korean) art shares many of the same mythological and shared cultural roots.

There are distinct differences but it is quite easy to blend the 2.

If it makes you happy go for it and if you are really concerned you can always use the other arm or cover over the orig tattoo but I personally do not see a need to.

Take Care
Matthew
