Luckily the colour that they used is light and the ink density is light as well. She should be able to get some cool butterfly patterns layered over it with some nice darker colours (blue, red, darker purple etc.) which might make it look more like a natural set of wings.

Maybe you could extend the black stripes so that they circle your arm (4 different rings) and extend the lines going up and down your arm so that they twist up into some sort of design… the whole thing is quite rippled – like fabric (rather than a hard edge grid) so perhaps they could be some sort of ‘dynamic’ ribbons that twist up or lay in…[Read more]

I wouldn’t worry about the difference in the middle and the outside. The hard curves of the tribal looks great darker and the middle design needs that shaded look. The whole thing suits and looks great!

Sorry, what is it that you are asking?

Did the artist design the tattoo or did he/she just ink a design that you already had?

The tattoo isn’t symmetric… but I didn’t see the original art, perhaps it is true to the design.

This is why people go to professionals.

Since this isn’t the first global financial hard times… perhaps a search into some of the imagery from the last great depression. Some of the artists, writers and musicians that communicated the hardships of the common man and labor camps etc. like Woody Guthry, Utah Philips, Steinbeck etc. Maybe you’ll find some inspirartion there.

I love tribal too. I really love how artists are finally taking the style and pushing the boundaries further than just Maori armbands… I’ve seen some amazing full shoulder,chest, sleeve pieces that are as striking as any Japanese full colour style ink.

I’ve got pieces on my ribs on both sides… it was the most painful tattoos I’ve got – but they’re also my favorite! Do it straight… it will be worth it. Put some headphones on (or ask them to turn up the tunes) and zone out for a while of you want… like Natures Numbing Cream!

I think the haunted forest idea (perfect picture too!) would be brilliant! All done in faded greywash with maybe a bit of green or blue like the photo – but misty and washed out… then the bold outline in very solid black would really make it a killer tat.

The benefit of a the ‘negative image idea’ is that you can ditch the swirling swastika! (if you wanted to of course) as it could be covered over with the solid colouring you would use.

Personally I think a black (or dark) outline – almost as thick as the gold ring its self – would look good.

The lion head gargoyle looking piece at the end of the first video was amazing with the very solid and subtly different shades of grey. Really looked like cracked stone… no dark overpowering lines at all. Amazing.

I like the mountain idea. Do you want colour? I’m thinking a moon rising above the mountain partially covered by clouds which will add some cool soft textures to balance the jagged mountain top.

What is the job you want to do… eg: are you currently studying a career? Each job is really different! Here in Australia, tattoos have become quite accepted in most workplaces… but I’m a designer… so my employment ‘word’ is a bit different to others.

Tattoos are forever dude. What’s the connection with the Halloween candy? The character is cool. It reminds me of old racing posters by Stanley Mouse from the 60’s. I’d ditch the other elements (bats and candy) and think long and hard that this is what you want to put on your body forever.
