I got tattoed by Shane O’Neill and met Bob Tyrell there when they did a guest spot last year. That place is great, their resident artists are quite good, the list of never ending guest artists is phenomenal and the owner (Gabe) is also real cool. He runs tattonow.com and also puts together websites for many top artists. They also sponsor the annual paradise tattoo gathering convention in the Berkshires which has an amazing list of artists, too. I’m always following the list of artists and would get tattooed there anytime someone catches my eye if it’s convenient. Who are you thinking of getting a tattoo from? Where are you from?

Yeah what I like is the different styles of guest artists. Depending on what style you want to get just wait for the right artist and you’re good. I noticed Terry Ribera, Nathan Kostechko and Luca Natalini are coming there, too, they are all world class. If you’re not familiar with Luca, check out his portfolio it’s incredible. Used to work in CT then moved back to Italy.

As above, the resident artists are good and they always have a steady stream of great guest artists. Terry Ribera won’t be tattooing when he’s there btw; he’s just doing a seminar. 🙁

What are you looking to get or what style at least? I can recommend a good shop in Cambridge that does a lot of traditional styled tattos also one in RI and a couple in CT. When you say you hit the same wall what do you mean?

Hope Gallery in New Haven, CT is another good shop in the area.

i have put a whole thread on what i want but. i have a mustang tattoo burning out and i want the smoke to turn tribal onto my left arm. most artists just say its hard or they dont understand ive drawn images and whatnot they are on tht thread. the last artist i talked to gave me an actual suggestion so that was one good thing. I want a buddha in my lower back with a japanese style dragon starting underneath the buddha curling up around it then the head comes up inbetween my shoulder and neck to fill in the empty space. and having smoke come from the dragons mouth and flow into the tribal i want on my arm.

No offense but if youv’e talked to a bunch of artists and they are either not understanding your ideas or not wanting to do it then maybe the problem lies with your concept and not the artists. A good artist knows what will work or not work and what will translate to a good tattoo. Maybe you should rethink and simplify your concept so all these unrelated elements don’t have to blend into one…especially into a tribal piece that plenty of artists don’t even like doing. Honestly, I think you should reconsider your concept and let a good artist help design something better that will translate to a better tattoo with elements that will flow together.

Anyway, for western traditional check out Redemption in Cambridge:

Also, in RI Providence Tattoo and Federal Hill are pretty good too:

IN Southern CT, Transcend is good but the best is Hope Gallery in New Haven. If the artists at Hope say it’s not doable then it’s not doable.

well when an artist tells u to go and draw something urself i find that aggrivating. and the other ones havent seemed to take an interest they want me to print out pictures so they can trace it on my back the point of this thread isnt to talk about my tattoo idea or concept if u wanna do that head to the design section and i have a thread there about it. I was just curious on peoples opinions of this particular shop. But if u are interested in helpin me figure out how this might or might not work read the thread.

I read the thread and I’ve given my opinions on the shop and suggested others. Good luck.

+1

… and sadly, Luca isn’t taking any new clients while he’s here. 🙁 He’s only finishing up on existing pieces.
