I got this done yesterday evening:

This is how it looks today after following the aftercare instructions. He did not bandage it; just put a layer of ointment on it. They recommended aquaphor, which I’ve been applying as directed. It looks like some of the lines have been messed up and there’s some smudging. My last tattooer told me only to use lotion, which I did, and I don’t remember having this problem.

What can I do? What has gone wrong? thank you

Welcome to the forum!

Don’t panic!

But, stop using petroleum based products. (Aquaphor) Use a cocoa butter based ointment. I use Redemption for the first few days, as well as my artist using it during the tattoo application. A & D is the worst account of it’s cod liver oil ingredient. I use Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula.

But, let your tattoo heal before judging it. It may take several months.

These pictures are really bad. Have someone take it for you. Hard to see anything really.

Don’t put anything on it. Before freaking out let it heal then freak out.
Really wait a bit to see what happens. It kind of looks stamped on to me.
