Got my first tattoo friday the 17th. The scabs have all come off and parts of it are shiny while the back portion is dry and looks milky and faded. Is typical in the healing process? Its on my right shoulder and is solid black. It just started to itch as well.

It’s still healing. Just leave it alone and don’t scratch it. The worst part is the itch, you are in the middle of the healing process.

scabs are not good, you want to prevent your new ink from scabbing, but since it did, milky and faded black is normal, shiny is new skin, at this point just leave it alone

next time you get ink you want to prevent scabbing and losing part of the work
