I got my tattoo 3 weeks ago in my upper thigh. Followed instructions from my artist. Apply aquaphor ointment for the first 3 days and then switch to a fragrance-free moisturizer. I used curel for that matter. Its been 3 weeks, and it hasnt completely peeled. It has this rough texture on it and was wondering if this is all standard procedure for the healing process or if something is going wrong.

Looks ok, but for what it is 3 weeks seems slow. Make sure you’re not using too much lotion.

That’s the thing. Because of the slow healing, I stopped putting lotion on about a week ago. Seems that my epithelial tissue regenerates slowly x_x.

I’d wait closer to 6 weeks before you know what its really going to look like. If you do put any lotion on it, use just the smallest dab you can manage.

When you put lotion on it, does it sort of clear up? Or darken up?
